The purpose of this testing iwas to verify whether the installed tile roofing system is capable of resisting the applied test load of 45 pounds uplift force. This testing was performed in general accordance with Miami Dade Building Code Protocol TAS 106. The static load was applied utilizing a calibrated scale and force measuring instrument (dynamometer). A hook which is connected to the loading instrument was placed under the exposed edge of the tile. Test load of 40 pounds force (lbf) was applied and also held for more than 5 second at each test location. In addition to the static load test, the tested tile was also visually inspected for any kind of adhesion failure after completion of each test. 21 2 3 22 23 41 61 81 101 121 42 43 62 63 82 83 102 103 122 123 4 24 44 84 104 124 5 25 45 65 85 105 125 6 26 46 66 86 106 126 7 27 47 67 87 107 127 8 28 48 68 88 108 128 9 29 49 69 89 109 129 10 30 50 70 90 110 130 11 31 51 71 91 111 131 12 32 52 72 92 112 132 13 33 53 73 93 113 133 14 34 54 74 94 114 134 15 35 55 75 95 115 135 16 36 56 76 96 116 136 17 37 57 77 97 117 137 18 38 58 78 98 118 138 19 20 39 59 79 99 119 139 40 i 60 80 100 120 140 Based on our findings, we conclude that the installed roofing tile at the above referenced project is capable to resist the applied test load. FLORIDA BUILDING CODE - BUILDING 4 9x38 MIAMI DADS COUNTY ddiverj Exec/Lowe Every lug • SECTION 1524 HIGH VELOCITY HURRICANE ZONES REQUIRED OWNER'S NOTIFICATION FOR ROOFING CONSIDERATION 1524.1 As it pertains to this section, it is the responsibility of the roofing contractor to provide the owner with the required roofing permit, and to explain to the owner the content of this section. The provisions of Chapter 15 of the Florida Building Cade, Building govern the minimum requirements and standards of the industry for roofing system installations. Additionally, the following items should be addressed as part of the agreement between the owner and the contractor. The owner's initial in the adjacent box indicates that the item has been explained. Aesthetics - Workmanship: The workmanship provisions of Chapter 15 (High Velocity Hurricane Zone) e for the purpose of providing that the roofing system meets the wind resistance and water intrusion performance standards. Aesthetics (appearance) issues are nota consideration with respect to workmanship provisions. Aesthetic issues such as color or architectural appearance, that are not part of a zoning code, should be addressed as part of th - agreement between the owner and the contractor. ' . Renailing Wood Decks: When replacing roofing, he existing wood roof deck may have to be renailed in cordance with the current provisions of Chapter 16 (High Velocity Hurricane Zones) of the Florida Building Code. (The roof deck is usually concealed prior to removing the existing roof system). 3. Common Roofs: Common roofs are those which have no visible delineation between neighboring units .e. townhouses, condominiums, etc.). In buildings with common roofs, the roofing contractor and/or owner sh otify the occupants of adjacent units of roofing work to be performed. . Exposed Ceilings: Exposed, open beam ceilings are where the underside of the roof decking can be viewed rom below. The owner may wish to maintain the architectural appearance, therefore, roofing nail penetrations of the underside of the decking may not be acceptable. The Florida Building Code provides the option of maintaining this appearance. . Ponding Water. The current roof system and /or deck of the building may not drain well and may cause water to pond (accumulate) in low -lying areas of the roof. Ponding can be an indication of structural distress and may require the review of a professional structural engineer. Ponding may shorten the life expectancy and per- formance of the new roofing system. Ponding conditions may not be evident until the original roofing system is eileronding conditions should be corrected. • 6. Overflow scuppers (wall outlets): It is required that rainwater flow off so that the roof is not overloaded • from a' build up pf,wafer. 'Perimeter /edge walls or other roof extensions may block this discharge if overflow • • scuppers (wall outlFs4j ire not provided. It may be necessary to install overflow scuppers in accordance with the Flilding C; gdy,•elumbing. • ••• 7••••tilation:•Mvst roof structures should have some ability to vent natural airflow through the interior of uetural asse?i ly'(the building itself). The existing amount of attic ventilation should not be reduced.
