2022-01-03 RAC Minutes Minutes of the Recreation Advisory Committee held on January 3, 2022. Members present: Sandra Carro John Ise Gayle Mercado Sheryl Piper Jens Schwarte Natasha White Members absent: Jennifer Baumann Silvia Clarke Christian Dunham Also present: Angela Dorney, Recreation Director Leslie Rackl, Executive Assistant The meeting was called to order at 7:07 p.m. Correction to the minutes of the December 6, 2021 meeting. Page two, paragraph two; change ‘location’ to ‘development project’. Ms. Carro made a motion to approve the minutes of the December 6, 2021 meeting with corrections. Motion seconded by Mr. Schwarte and unanimously approved. It was related that Plaza 98 was held on the east side of 98 th Street. This event was a Chamber and Village event which was very successful with over 500 in attendance. Ms. Dorney noted that the Chamber is working on additional events such as a pub crawl and Green Day. Santa Express was held over a two night period with a total of 55 homes visited. A Fine Arts Commission concert is planned for January 14th but having people in pods would be difficult to organize on the recreation fields. It was related that a date has not yet been scheduled for the Village’s 90th Anniversary celebration. Mr. Ise suggested combining Unity Day and Green Day. Ms. Dorney noted that Green Day has been approved for April 30th. Ms. Dorney related that flag football registration is currently ongoing and noted that pickleball is gaining popularity. Ms. Dorney noted that ideally additional courts are needed. Discussion turned to the Strategic Plan. It was related that within the Strategic Plan, the Parks Master Plan will include a new community center. Ms. Carro recommended that credit cards payments be made available at the tennis center. The meeting adjourned at 7:45 p.m.
