Ms. Vignale moved to approve the October 17, 2019 minutes. Ms. Anderson seconded, and the motion was approved unanimously. 2. Public Comments: No public comments were offered. 3. Mayor Wagar and Mr. Bourne shared the status of the PASS Grant. Mayor Wagar stated that they had a meeting last week with Dr. Liftin and Dr. Woodard of the Council for Educational Change; also participating were Ms. Swain and Mr. Diaz. Dr. Liftin described the 3-year process and Mayor Wagar said that Dr. Liftin assured her that the timing of this year’s application is on track. The goal is to apply for the $100,000 match; Mr. Bourne has generously offered to fill in the approximately $3,000 needed to bring the contribution from the Village to $100,000 in order to qualify for that match. There is an online document that is in process, and will be completed by the team members. Mayor Wagar thanked Ms. Vignale for making the Board and the Village aware of this valuable opportunity and for moving the process forward. The Mayor and Mr. Bourne said that all members of the team are very positive and excited about this opportunity. Mr. Bourne will serve as the business/community mentor/liaison, and is excited to offer his marketing expertise to the school. Mr. Bourne said that the process still has many stages to be completed; specific goals and uses of the funds will be determined as the process continues. Ms. Duerkopf asked if there is an accountability component to the Grant and Mr. Bourne assured the Board that there are metrics built in to the process, which will be provided at certain intervals, to be determined. It is a closely monitored process and the achievement data that is already gathered via the iReady platform, will most certainly be used as at least one measurement. Mr. Netto added that the community involvement that will result from this is a positive outcome for MSES. Ms. Vignale suggested that a future event may be valuable to showcase the school and the new curriculum. Mr. Bourne responded that events of that nature will be a part of the plan. Mr. Netto shared that the school website has been updated and now highlights the Tuesday tours, and Cambridge curriculum, and the beautification project underway. He shared that the school did not have a presence at Green Day but perhaps they would be there next year. 4. The breakfast to celebrate the “B” grade has been scheduled for Thursday, December 12, from 7:30 to 8:15 am. Ms. Anderson will draft a donation letter that can be used by all who will solicit donations from Publix, Starbucks, Dunkin’ Donuts, and Panera Bread. Ms. Vignale will donate $50 and take care of decorations and securing some raffle prizes. Ms. Walker will ask Ms. Cigno to provide a gift card for $100 and Mr. Garber will request some donations for raffle prizes. Other members will request donations from the businesses listed above. The meeting was adjourned at 7:10 p.m. Next meeting: Monday, Dec. 2, 2019, at 6:00 p.m. in the Village Hall Conference Room.
