Soccer has begun with 262 enrolled; 220 in the travel soccer program and 70 enrolled in aftercare. Discussion turned to the vision of a new Community Center. Mr. Estep distributed the Community Center’s yearly visitation numbers to the members. The snack bar in the new center is still a question mark depending on where the center is built. Mr. Estep is still looking at different recreation facilities to get ideas what Miami Shores will need. Some cities focus is more on athletic facilities rather than gymnasiums. Sizewise, Key Biscayne footprint is the most comparable to Miami Shores. It was noted that Key Biscayne has underground parking which added about two million dollars to their actual cost. Discussion turned to the upcoming 5K race. The race will cost about $7500 and there have been sponsorships totaling $3100 to date. Mr. Meltz suggested establishing a Paypal account to make sponsoring the event more convenient. Mr. Meltz said he will secure a spot for the 5K race at Green Day. The meeting adjourned at 7:30 p.m.
