R-0818-87 RESOLUTION NO. ® 818-87 RESOLUTION REQUESTING DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION, STATE OF FLORIDA, IN COOPERATION WITH METROPOLITAN DADE COUNTY, FLORIDA, TO INSTALL AN ELECTRIC TRAFFIC CONTROL SIGNAL ON U.S. HIGHWAY NO. 1 FOR THE PURPOSE OF RELIEVING THE TRAFFIC BURDEN THEREON AT OR NEAR THE VICINITY OF THE MIAMI SHORES COUNTRY CLUB, MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE, FLORIDA. WHEREAS, the continued increase of vehicular traffic on U. S. Highway No. 1 in the vicinity of the Miami Shores Country Club, at the intersection of N. E. 100th Street and said Highway, has created such congestion that vehicles entering and departing the Miami Shores Country Club onto U. S. No. 1 do so at great peril to the occupants of said vehicles and the occupants of the vehicles traveling north and southbound thereon, and WHEREAS, the maintenance of said highway and the regulation of traffic thereon lies within the domain of the Department of Transportation of the State of Florida and the Signals and Signs Division of the Department of Public Works, Metropolitan Dade County, Florida, and WHEREAS, the Miami Shores Village Council has determined that there is a great need for the establishment of an automatic traffic control signal on U. S. Highway No. 1 designed to regulate the orderly entry of motor vehicles upon U. S. Highway No. 1 from adjoining areas in the vicinity of the Miami Shores Country Club, as aforesaid, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Miami Shores Village Council does hereby request that the Department of Transportation, State of Florida, and the appropriate department of Metropolitan Dade County, Florida, make an appropriate study of the motor vehicle traffic burden on U. S. Highway No. 1 in the vicinity of its intersection with N. E. 100th Street, and that an auto- matic traffic control signal be established in said area in a manner designed to reduce the hazards to vehicular traffic in said vicinity, and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of this Resolution be provided to the Department of Transportation, State of Florida, and to Metropolitan Dade County, Florida, and any other appropriate governmental authority.
