R-0806-86 RESOLUTION NO. 806-86 RESOLUTION CALLING FOR VOTER OPPOSITION TO THE CHANGE OF GOVERNING BODY OF METRO-DADE FIRE RESCUE DISTRICT. WHEREAS, the voters of Dade County on September 2, 1986 will be asked to vote on a County Charter change which reads: SHALL THE DADE COUNTY HOME RULE CHARTER BE AMENDED TO PROVIDE THAT THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS SHALL NOT BE THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE METRO-DADE FIRE AND RESCUE SERVICE DISTRICT ESTABLISHED BY ORDINANCE NO. 80-86, BUT SAID FIRE AND RESCUE SERVICE DISTRICT SHALL BE GOVERNED BY FIVE MEMBERS ELECTED FOR INITIAL TERMS OF TWO YEARS BY THE REGISTERED VOTERS OF THE METRO-DADE FIRE AND RESCUE SERVICE DISTRICT, and WHEREAS, this change would pave the way for an increase in taxes for the citizens of Miami Shores, and WHEREAS, this change would remove control of Fire Rescue Service from the County Commission, and WHEREAS, this change would not enhance the efficiency or effectiveness of the fire rescue service, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of Miami Shores Village, Florida that electors are urged to vote against this undesirable measure by punching No. 271 on the ballot on September 2, 1986.
