R-0805-86 RESOLUTION NO. 805-86 RESOLUTION CALLING FOR SPECIAL ELECTION IN MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE, FLORIDA, ON TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 4, 1986, FOR THE PURPOSE OF SUB- MITTING TO THE ELECTORS OF MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE A PROPOSED AMENDMENT TO ARTICLE III, SECTION 28, PARAGRAPH (A) (2) OF THE MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE CHARTER TO ESTABLISH THE NUMBER OF 500 AS THE MINIMUM NUMBER OF REQUIRED SIGNATURES FOR INITIATIVE AND REFERENDUM. WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 5. 03 of the Charter of Metropolitan Dade County, Florida, the Miami Shores Village Council adopted Resolution No. 803-86, calling for the submission to the electors of Miami Shores Village of a proposed amendment to the Miami Shores Village Charter, which amendment would rquire a minimum of 500 signatures of electors for initiative and referendum, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of Miami Shores Village, Florida: Section 1. In accordance with the provisions of Section 5. 03 of the Charter of Metropolitan Dade County, Florida, a special election is hereby called and shall be held in Miami Shores Village on Tuesday, November 4, 1986, for the purpose of submitting to the qualified electors of Miami Shores Village, Florida, a proposal for amendment to the Miami Shores Village Charter in the form hereinafter set forth. Section 2. The result of such special election shall be determined by a majority of the qualified electors of Miami Shores Village, Florida, in accordance with the provisions of the general election law. Voting devices authorized and approved by the laws of the State of Florida and Dade County shall be used in such election, and the question which shall appear on the voting ballot shall be substantially in the following form: SHALL ARTICLE III, SECTION 28, PARAGRAPH (A) (2) OF THE MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE CHARTER BE AMENDED TO REQUIRE A MINIMUM OF 500 SIGNATURES OF ELECTORS FOR INITIATIVE AND REFERENDUM. Section 3. Those qualified electors desiring to approve such amendment shall be instructed to make the required perforation opposite the words "FOR PROPOSED CHARTER AMENDMENT" , and those qualified electors desiring to reject such proposed charter amend- ment shall be instructed to make the required perforation opposite the words "AGAINST PROPOSED CHARTER AMENDMENT. " Section 4. A sample ballot, showing the manner in which the question or proposal aforesaid shall appear on the voting devices at the special election shall be published and provided in accordance with the applicable provisions of the general election laws. Section 5. The special election on the proposed charter amendment shall be held and conducted in accordance with the applicable provisions of the general laws relating to special elections and provisions of the Metropolitan Dade County Home Rule Amendment and Charter. All officials involved in said proceedings are hereby authorized and directed to take appropriate action necessary to carry into effect and accomplish the provisions of this resolution. Election inspection boards, inspectors and clerks to serve as election officials shall be appointed in accordance with the provisions of the general election laws, and this special election shall be canvassed in accordancewith the laws provided therefor.
