R-0777-84 RESOLUTION NO. 777-84 A RESOLUTION URGING THE GOVERNOR AND CABINET AND THE CONSERVATION AND RECREATION LANDS (CARL) SELECTION COMMITTEE TO GIVE HIGH PRIORITY TO THE ACQUISITION OF THE DEERING ESTATE WHEREAS, the Deering Estate is one of the few areas left in Dade County which contain the major South Florida plant commun- ities such as pinelands, hardwood hammock and mangroves and, therefore, is of great ecological , recreational and historical value; and WHEREAS, the preservation of the Deering Estate is vital to the protection of South Dade County's environment and to the management of Biscayne Bay; and WHEREAS, Miami Shores residents have expressed their support of the preservation of the Deering Estate; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY the Village Council, of Miami Shores Village, Fl:orida ,, that this Council strongly urges the Governor and Cabinet and the Conservation and Recreation Lands Selection Committee to give high priority to the acquisition of the Deering Estate.
