R-0720-81 RESOLUTION NO. 720-81 A RESOLUTION URGING HIGHER PRIORITY ON REVIEW OF TRAIN CROSSINGS WITHIN MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE WHEREAS, The Miami Shores Village Council has previously gone on record asking Dade County to curtail the train whistle noise at the train crossings in Miami Shores; and WHEREAS, Dade County passed an ordinance to effect such control , and WHEREAS, the said ordinance was assigned to the Railroad Noise Committee and the Dade County Department of Environmental Resources Management was designated to chair said committee; and WHEREAS, said committee is presently reviewing five crossings, and WHEREAS, said committee has taken longer than planned to review the five crossings because of slow response by the Seaboard Coast Line Railiroad, State and County Departments of Transportation, and WHEREAS, said delay has been further complicated by a lack of priority in the Department of Environmental Resources Management as regards their limited budgeted funds; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AS FOLLOWS: 1 . A copy of this resolution be sent to those parties who have not fulfilled and reported requirements to the Committee in a timely manner, expressing our disappoint- ment and urging them to give the Train Committee their full and prompt support in the future. 2. That by copy of this resolution we ask the Dade County Commission to assign the administration and enforcement of the Train Whistle Ordinance a high priority as regards the Department of Environmental Resources Management budget. 3. That the crossings in Miami Shores be included in the next five crossings to be evaluated by ;the Train Whistle'.Committee.
