A RESOLUTION ADOPTING RULES CON-
TROLLING USE OF THE MIAMI SHORES
GOLF COURSE.
BE IT RESOLVED BY MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE:
Section 1. That there exists a need to establish
regulations concerning golf play on the Miami Shores Golf
course.
Section 2. That for this purpose the attached
"Rules of Village of Miami Shores Golf Course" are hereby
approved and adopted.
Section 3. That this resolution is to be
effective immediately upon adoption.

RULES OF VILLAGE OF MIAMI SHORES GOLF COURSE
All persons using the Miami Shores Golf Course shall
comply with the following rules:
I. All members shall sign a Member' s Registration
Sheet at the first tee.
2. All golfers shall wear clothing that covers the
entire body and the upper part of the legs to a point within
two inches above the knee.
3. All play will begin from the No. 1 Tee unless
permission is granted by the starter to commence elsewhere.
There shall be no practicing or use of more than one ball at a
time on the golf course. Range balls are not permitted on any
part of the golf course.
4. There shall be no play on the golf course before
7:30 a.m. during the winter season and 8:00 a.m. in the summer
season except that play is permitted after 7:30 a.m. on Saturdays,
Sundays, and holidays throughout the entire year.
5. Any player entering a sand trap must level the sand
therein upon leaving. Entry into a sand trap must be by way of
the lowest bank so as not to disturb the sand any more than
necessary. A player shall not enter or exit a sand trap from the
side thereof nearest to the green.
6. Players must use care not to scuff greens. Care
must be used in removing and replacing pins so as not to damage
the lip of the cup. Each player must repair any damage to a green
made by that player' s ball.
7. A foursome, or any lesser number, must allow a fol-
lowing foursome to play through when one hole is open ahead of
the leading foursome and when the following foursome is playing
at a faster pace than the leading foursome.
8. Tournament players, as designated by the golf
professional, have priority over non-tournament players on the
course during tournaments.
9. Electric carts may not be rented to nor operated
by any person under 18 years of age. Electric carts are res-
tricted to usage by two persons and two golf bags. Electric
carts are not to be driven within ten yards of any putting
surface and are to be kept off all slopes adjoining greens or
traps and shall not be driven across any white line around the
greens.
10. The electric cart shall travel upon asphalt cart
paths at all times practicable and all players shall comply with
any directional signs posted upon the course by or under the
direction of the golf course superintendent.
11. Electric cart rules shall likewise apply to hand
carts.
12. The golf course superintendent is empowered to
declare the course closed for play, or restrict the use of carts,
at any time it is necessary to do so in order to protect the
course during bad weather or to make required repairs or main-
tenance.
13. Players from ages 12 to 17, inclusive, who have a
current handicap of 18 or less on this course shall be considered
QUALIFIED JUNIOR GOLFERS and shall be entitled to all rights and
privileges of adult members with the following exceptions:
A. They shall not be entitled to starting times
on Saturdays and Sundays during the months of December through
April, inclusive, until after 1:30 p.m.
B. They shall not be entitled to have guests on
Saturdays, Sundays or holidays during the months of December
through April, inclusive.

14. Players from ages 16 to 17, inclusive, with a
handicap of 18 or less shall be allowed to play in club tourna-
ments other than the club championship.
15. Players aged 12 to 17, inclusive, who are not
QUALIFIED JUNIOR GOLFERS, as defined above, shall be permitted
to use the club golf facilities as follows:
A. Players under 12 years of age and players
between the ages of 12 and 17, inclusive, who are not QUALIFIED
JUNIOR GOLFERS shall be permitted to play on the course only when
accompanied by a golf professional employed by Miami Shores
Village, or an adult golf member of the Miami Shores Country Club.
Any accompanying adult shall accept full responsibility for both
the safety and conduct of the minor. Said minor shall not be
permitted to play on the golf course until after 3 :00 p.m. on
any day during the months of September through May, inclusive,
but may use the practice area when accompanied by an adult golf
member or golf professional as above described, unless use of such
area interferes with practice by an adult golf member.
B. During the months of June, July and August,
said minors may play from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. , and after 3 :00
p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. Said minors may
not be permitted to make starting times at any time or under any
circumstances except during participation in scheduled junior
tournaments, and then only with the approval of the tournament
committee.
16. Tournaments may be scheduled, subject to the approval
of the golf pro, by the Miami Shores Mens Golf Association and
the Miami Shores Womens Golf Association, and the required start-
ing times may be allocated for said tournament, in the discretion
of the golf pro. The golf pro can similarly schedule tournaments
for the general golf membership and allocate the required starting

times therefor.
17. Restriction on Guest Play: Guests playing with
members are permitted as follows:
A. One guest per member on Saturdays. Two
guests per member on Sundays during the summer season. One
guest per member on Sunday during winter season during the A.M.
starting times only with the exception that husband and wife may
have another couple play with them.
B. All winter guests must play with a member.
C. Not more than three guests per member on
weekdays the year round.
D. Golf guests playing without a member are
permitted on weekdays only with a limit of two during the summer
season.
18. No person shall use vulgar or abusive language at
any time.
19. No person shall intentionally damage city property.
20. Starting Times: Starting times are required on
Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays. Starting sheets shall be placed
in the golf shop one week in advance. No one shall sign another
player' s name to the starting sheet without that player' s express
consent. Each player' s name on a starting sheet shall be legible
and complete. The use of the word "guest" to identify player on
starting sheet shall not be permitted. The first and tenth tees
will be used for starting times on Saturdays, Sundays, and holi-
cays, to the extent required.
21. Foursomes only are allowed to play on Saturdays,
Sundays and holidays except, when in the judgment of the starter,
a lesser number can start without impairing the maximum utiliza-
tion of the course.
22. The actual play upon the Miami Shores course shall
be governed by the established local rules of play.

23. No animals of any kind are permitted upon Club
House or golf course property.
24. Violations: The violation of any of the foregoing
rules shall subject the violator to suspension or revocation of
the privilege to use the facilities of the Miami Shores Golf
Course, as follows:
A. Suspension:
(1) Enforcement of these rules shall be the
obligation of the club golf professional, or, in his absence,
any other person appointed for that purpose by the Manager of
Miami Shores Village.
(2) In the event the golf professional
personally witnesses a violation of any of these rules, he is
empowered to suspend the privileges of the violator for an
appropriate period of time not to exceed sixty (60) days.
(3) Violations other than those personally
witnessed by the golf professional shall be dealt with only upon
the basis of a written complaint signed by the person observing
the violation, in which case the golf professional shall investi-
gate the complaint, interview the alleged violator, and take
whatever action he deems necessary up to a suspension of privileges
not to exceed sixty (60) days.
(4) In the event an individual repeatedly
violates these rules, the golf professional is empowered to make
a written recommendation to the Village Manager that said violator
be permanently barred from the Club House and golf course. In
the case of such a recommendation, the alleged violator shall be
notified by the Village Manager of the recommendation, and the
alleged violator shall be given an opportunity to be heard by the
Village Manager upon the issue of the recommended revocation.

The Village Manager shall act upon the golf pro' s recommendation
in such manner as he deems appropriate under the circumstances
up to and including the permanent revocation of privileges of
the offending player.
(5) In the event of a suspension of privileges
the affected player may have the suspension reviewed by the
Village Manager. Said review shall be based only upon written
application therefor, signed by the affected player, detailing
the reasons for the review. The Village Manager shall affirm,
reverse, or modify the ruling of the golf pro.
(6) In the event of suspension or permanent
revocation of privileges for violation of these rules, there shall
be no refund of fees or dues.
