R-564-74 RESOLUTION NO. 564 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING APPLICATION THROUGH DADE COUNTY BUREAU OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE PLANNING AND ASSIST- ANCE FOR A COMPUTER TERMINAL IN- STALLATION FOR MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE. WHEREAS, the Miami Shores Village Council herein called the "Applicant", after thorough consideration of the problem and available data, has hereby determined that the project described below is in the best interest of the general public; and WHEREAS, under the terms of Public Law 90-351, as amended, the United States of America has authorized the Law Enforcement Assistance Administration, through the Bureau of Criminal Justice Planning and Assistance, to make federal grants to assist local governments in the improvement of criminal justice; and WHEREAS, the Applicant has examined and duly considered such act and the Applicant considers it to be in the public interest and to its benefit to file an application for the implementation of the following project and in the following amount. For installation and rental charges regarding an IBM 2740 computer terminal to be installed in Police Department facilities, provid- ing access to the Dade County Communications System EDP inform- ation banks. This information pertains to open warrants and information of a local nature regarding criminal figures, which is essential to the operations of law enforcement agencies. At the present time, this information is only available through the process of radio or telephone checks to the Dade County Communications System. This project requires an amount of ONE HUNDRED TWENTY-SEVEN DOLLARS AND EIGHTY-SEVEN CENTS ($127. 87). The State of Florida will match the above amount ($127. 87), and the Federal Law Enforcement Assistance Administration will provide funds in the amount of $2301. 51. This project is a continuation of the Police Department's policy of continual upgrading of equipment through the use of existing federal grant monies available. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: Section 1. That the project generally described above is in the best interests of the Applicant and the general public. Section 2. That John McIntyre, Village Manager, be hereby authorized to file in behalf of the Applicant's application in the form pre- scribed by the Bureau of Criminal Justice Planning and Assistance in conformity with said Act, for the grant to be made to the Applicant to assist in defraying the cost of the project generally described above. Section 3. That John McIntyre, Village Manager, is hereby authorized to furnish such information and take such other action as maybe necessary to enable the Applicant to qualify for said grant. Section 4. That the official designated in the preceding paragraph is hereby designated as the authorized representative of the Applicant for the purpose of furnishing to the Bureau of Criminal Justice Planning and Assistance such information, data and documents pertaining to the applications for said grants as may be required and otherwise to act as the authorized representative of the Applicant in connection with this application. Section 5. That certified copies of this resolution be included as part of the application for said grant to be submitted to the Bureau of Criminal Justice Planning and Assistance. Section 6. That if such grants be made the Official Applicant designated in paragraph 3 above shall maintain such records necessary and furnish such information, data and documents as required by the Bureau of Criminal Justice Planning and Assistance to support the implementation of the project generally described above. Section 7. That this resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption. PASSED and ADOPTED this 3rd day of September, 1974. lames W.
