A RESOLUTION CALLING A REFERENDUM ELECTION
TO VOTE ON THE QUESTION OF WHETHER THE MIAMI
SHORES VILLAGE FIRE AND RESCUE DEPARTMENT
SHALL BE MERGED WITH THE METROPOLITAN DADE
COUNTY FIRE DEPARTMENT ON OCTOBER 1, 1975
WHEREAS, the Village Council has voted to submit to the voters
of this Village the question as to whether or not the Fire Department of
the Village shall be merged with the fire fighting forces of Metropolitan Dade
County in accordance with the contract therefor which is on file in the office
of the Clerk of this Village subject to daily inspection, with the exception of
Saturdays, Sundays and holidays, by interested citizens,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY MIAMI SHORES
VILLAGE:
Section 1: That a referendum election, pursuant to the provisions
of the Metropolitan Charter of Dade County, Florida, is hereby called and
shall be held on November 5, 1974, which is the general election date, for
the purpose of submitting to the qualified voters of Miami Shores Village the
question as to whether or not the Miami Shores Village Fire and Rescue Depart-
ment shall be merged with the Dade County Fire Department on October 1,
1975 pursuant to the terms of said contract.
Section 2: The said election will be held under the jurisdiction
and auspices of Dade County, Florida, and subject to the laws governing such
general election.
Section 3: That the form of question to be used at said election
shall be substantially as follows:
MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE REFERENDUM
Question: WHETHER THE MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE FIRE
AND RESCUE DEPARTMENT SHALL BE MERGED WITH THE
METROPOLITAN DADE COUNTY FIRE DEPARTMENT ON
OCTOBER 1, 1975?

Section 4: That a copy of this resolution shall be sent to the
County Manager and to the Supervisor of Elections of Dade County to in-
corporate the question in the official ballot being prepared for the general
election of November 5, 1974.
Section 5: This resolution shall be effective immediately upon
its passage.
Section 6: This resolution shall be published one time in a
newspaper of general circulation in Miami Shores Village, said publication
shall be not less than 30 days prior to said election.
Section 7: The Council hereby finds and determines that there
is an immediate necessity for the adoption of this resolution and that it is
necessary that the resolution be immediately adopted so that subsequent
steps, as required by law, can be had. It is accordingly found that the
resolution should be passed as an emergency matter, which is hereby
resolved.
PASSED and ADOPTED on first reading this 16th day of July,
1974.
