R-407-60 MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE RESOLUTION NO. 407 A RESOLUTION CONCERNING THE PROPOSED MID-BAY CAUSEWAY. WHEREAS, when Miami Shores Village was incorporated the eastern boundary line was placed near the east edge of Biscayne Bay, and WHEREAS, many officials and citizens have considered this a safeguard against attempts to construct land fill projects in the Bay east of the Village shore line, and WHEREAS, it has been announced that the Dade County Commission is planning the construction of a vehicular driveway in Biscayne Bay which will extend through the corporate limits of Miami Shores Village, and WHEREAS, it is the opinion of many citizens of this Village, that although said project might create a scenic drive for those using it, it also might create an ugly scar on the scenic beauty of the Bay, thereby injuring the value of the shore property which has been developed at great expense, and WHEREAS, the report "A Study of Traffic and Transportation in Metropolitan Dade County 195811, compiled by the County Traffic and Transportation Department, does not in its comprehensive conclusions include mention of a drive in Biscayne Bay in order to move the traffic in the immediate future or in long range planning, and WHEREAS, the people of Miami Shores Village and its Council have not had an opportunity to consider what effects the construction of said mid-bay causeway might have upon them and the properties in the Village; THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of Miami Shores Village that the Dade County Commission do postpone any action upon the pending proposal until such time as regional studies can be conducted and the sentiment of the people in the various localities which might be affected by the causeway be ascertained.
