R-361-56 MIAMI SHORES RESOLUTION NO. 361 A RESOLUTION CALLING AN ELECTION OF THE QUALIFIED REGISTERED FREEHOLDERS TO VOTE FOR OR AGAINST ORDINANCE NO. 273 ADOPTING A PENSION PLAN FOR VILLAGE EMPLOYEES BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE: SECTION 1. That a special election is hereby ordered to be held on November 27, 1956 for the purpose of submitting to the qualified registered freeholders of Miami Shores Village, the question whether Ordinance No. 273 establishing a pension fund for all Village employees shall become effective. SECTION 2. Notice of said special election shall be given (a) by publication in the North Dade Journal a newspaper published in Dade County and of general circulation in the Village there being no newspaper published in the Village, such publication to be made at least once in each week for four consecutive weeks before said election' the date of first publication in said newspaper to be at least thirty days prior to said election, and (b) by posting as directed in said Ordinance. The notice shall be in substantially the following form: NOTICE OF SPECIAL PENSION FUND ELECTION TO BE HELD NOVEMBER �7, 1956 AT MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE To the qualified registered freeholders, Miami Shores Village, Florida: Notice is hereby given that a special election will be held at the Village Hall in Miami Shores Village on November 27, 1956. The question to be voted upon by the qualified registered freeholders of said Village is whether or not Ordinance No. 2731 which establishes a pension fund for all Village employees and provides for the imposition of a tax not to exceed one mill on all taxable propertyq shall become effective on January 1, 1957. A copy of the pension plan is on file with the Village Clerk for inspection between the hours of 9 o'clock .rA.M. and 5 otclock P.M. , Monday through Friday of each week. The registration books will be open at the Office of the Village Clerk from 8:30 o' clock A.M. until 5:00 otclock P.M. each day, Sundays, holidays and half holidays excepted, until November 23, 1956. Lawton McCall Village Manager The polls will be open on November 27, 1956 between the hours of 7:00 A.M. eastern standard time, -and 7:00 P.M. of the same day, at which election there will be submitted to the qualified registered freeholders of Miami Shores Village, Dade County, Florida, the following question: Shall Miami Shores Village Ordinance No. 2737 which establishes a pension fund for employees at an annual cost to the freeholders of Miami Shores Village not to exceed one mill in taxes adopted by the Village Council October 16, 19592 become effective January 1, 1957? Said election will be held at the Village Hall, the place where elections are usually held in said Miami Shores Village. The registration books will be open at the office of the Village Clerk from 8:30 o' clock A.M. until 5:00 P.M. on each day, Sundays, holidays and half-holidays excepted, until and including November 23, 1956, for the registration of qualified freeholders to vote at said election. The following election officers have been appointed to conduct said election: Mrs. Clifford Hughes Inspector Mrs. . Blanche Eberlep Inspector Miss M. Antoinette Vigneron_ Clerk If said Ordinance. No. 273 is approved by a majority of the qualified registered freeholders participating in said election, an ad valorem tax not to exceed one mill will be annually levied upon all taxable property in the municipality sufficient to pay, together with the employee contributions, the costs of maintaining said pension fund. Mrs. Clifford Hughes and Mrs. Blanche Eberley are hereby appointed inspectors of election and M. .Antoinette Vigneron as cleric of election for such special election, each of whom is a resident and registered qualified freeholder, of the Village. SECTION 4. Only qualified registered freeholders of Miami Shores Village will be permitted to vote at said special pension fund election, and the Village Clerk is hereby directed to furnish to the inspectors of -2- election and clerk of election hereinabove appointed a certified list of all the qualified registered freeholders-. residing within the municipality. SECTION 5. The form of ballot to be used at said election shall be substantially as follows: OFFICIAL BALLOT Special Pension Fund Election Miami Shores Village, Florida November 27, 1956 Instructions to Voters 1. To vote in favor of Ordinance No. 2?3, make a cross (x) mark in the square to the left of the words aFOR ORDINANCE'". 2. Tovoteagainst Ordinance No. 273 make a cross (x) mark in the square to the left of the words "AGAINST ORDINANCE".
