R-263-44 RESOLUTION NO. e6+ 63 A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE PLAN OF A CENTRAL COMMITTEE TO OPPOSE, 014 BEHALF OF DADE COUNTY MUNICIPALITIES, THE CON- \`e SOLIDATION OF MUNICIPAL AND COUNTY ASSESS- MENT AND COLLECTION OF TAXES, AS--PROVIDED BY HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 786 OF 1943. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE, FLORIDA, THAT WHEREAS in the coming elections of November next the electorate of the State of M orida will vote upon the proposed Consti- tutional Amendment seeking, among other things, to consolidate the assessment and collection of taxes of municipalities in Dade and Orange Counties, so that the assessments and collections will be hand- led exclusively by the County tax assessors and collectors, and WHEREAS the Council of Miami Shores Village believes that the passage of the proposed amendment will be inimical to the best interests, not only of Miami Shores Village, but all of the municipalities affect- ed. AND WHEREAS at a recent meeting of some of the officers of all ofthe affected municipalities in Dade County a Committee was appoint- ed, of which C. W. Tomlinson of Miami Beach wasmade chairman, the functions of which Committee are to carry on a campaign of education among the voters of the State of Florida and to the various other municipalities of this state, who while they will not be affected by the passage of the proposed amendment, nevertheless, under -the appar- ent trend will probably be placed in the same position later on. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE COUNCIL, FLORIDA, THAT the VILLAGE COUNCIL heartily approves and en- dorses the plan of having a central committee act for and in behalf of all the affected municipalities in Dade County for the purpose ultimately of bringing about the defeat of said Constitutional Amend- ment.
