AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 18-16 AND 18-18 OF
THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE,
FLORIDA; ESTABLISHING TERMS CERTAIN FOR MEMBERS OF
THE PERSONNEL APPEALS BOARD; LIMITING MEMBERS TO
ONE REAPPOINTMENT; REDUCING QUORUM TO THREE
MEMBERS; PROVIDING EFFECTIVE DATE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1. Section 18-16 of the Code of Ordinances of
Miami Shores Village, Florida, reads as follows:
Sec. 18-16 . Created; composition; terms, removal of members.
There is hereby created a personnel appeals board, consisting
of five (5) persons appointed by the council and vested with
jurisdiction, powers and duties. Each member shall hold office
until his successor has been duly appointed, except when removed by
the village council, and any member may be removed at any time by
a majority vote of the village council.
SECTION 2 . Section 18-16 of the Code of Ordinances of
Miami Shores Village, Florida, shall stand amended to read as
follows:
Sec. 18-16 . Created; composition; terms, removal of members.
There is hereby created a personnel appeals board, consisting
of f ive (5) persons appointed by the council in the following
manner: on November 1, 1991, the terms of board members now
serving shall terminate, and the vacancies thereby created shall be
filled in the following manner:
(a) Two (2) members shall be appointed to serve for terms
which shall terminate on September 30, 1994 .
(b) Three (3) members shall be appointed to serve for terms
which shall terminate on September 30, 1993 .
(c) All appointments subsequent to those set forth in (a) and
(b) above shall be for periods of three (3) years each.
Any vacancy occurring during a term shall be filled by
appointments to serve for the remainder of the unexpired
term.
(d) A member may be reappointed for more than one ( 1)
successive term.
(e) Any member may be removed at any time by a majority vote
of the village council.
( f) Each member of the Personnel Appeals Board shall attend
one ( 1) training session per fiscal year.
SECTION 3. Section 18-18 of the Code of Ordinances of
Miami Shores Village, Florida, reads as follows :

Sec. 18-18. officers; quorum.
The board shall select a chairman and may designate one ( 1) of
its members as secretary. A quorum must be present for transaction
of any business of the board. Four (4) members of the board must
be present to constitute a quorum, but less than a quorum may
adjourn to a specific time.
SECTION 4 . Section 18-18 of the Code of Ordinances of
Miami Shores Village, Florida, shall stand amended to read as
follows:
Sec. 18-18. Officers; quorum.
The board shall select a chairman and may designate one ( 1) of
its members as secretary. A quorum must be present for transaction
of any business of the board. Three (3) members of the board must
be present to constitute a quorum, but less than a quorum may
adjourn to a specific time.
SECTION 5. This ordinance shall become effective upon
adoption.
