O-275-57 ORDINANCE NO. 275 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 169, BEING AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 5 OF ORDINANCE NO. 12Z, ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE RELATING TO ELECTIONS AND REGISTRATION OF VOTERS AND TO ABSENTEE VOTING. BE IT ORDAINED BY MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE: Section 1. That Section No. 5 of Ordinance No. 12Z as amended by Ordinance No. 169, be and the same is hereby further amended to read as follows: ''At least thrity days before an election the Council shall appoint not less than four or more than ten discreet persons as election judges, each of whom shall a be qualified voter and not a candidate, nor pecuniarily interested in any question to be submitted at the election, and they, with the Village Clerk, shall be the election board and shall conduct the election, and before leaving the polling place shall publicly canvass and certify in writing the results thereof by duplicate certificates over their signatures, and before entering on their duties they shall make oath that they will honestly and fairly conduct, canvass and certify the results of the election, provided that one member of the board at a time may absent himself not exceeding forty-five minutes at meal-times. In the event of inability or refusal of any of the persons so appointed as election judges to act, and if another meeting of the Council shall not intervene between the existence of such inability and the holding of the election, the Mayor is authorized and directed to fill the vacancy so existing by appointment from among the qualified electors of the Village. The judges shall be paid commensurate with that paid by Dade County. -1- Section 2. This ordinance shall become effective immediately upon;its passage. PASSED AND ADOPTED this 5th day of March, 1957.
