MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE ORDINANCE NO. 79
AN ORDINANCE RELATING TO THE QUALIFICATIONS OF
CANDIDATES FOR MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE COUNCIL,
AN ELECTION FOR WHICH WILL BE HELD JUNE 20,
1939, WITHIN THE VILLAGE TO SUCCEED JOHN M.
CARLISLE AND HUGH H. GORDON, JR.
BE IT ORDAINED BY MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE:
SECTION 1. All candidates for Miami Shores Village Council
to succeed the two members of the Village Council, John M. Carlisle
and Hugh H. Gordon, Jr., shall be nominated upon written petitions
signed by 10% of the registered qualified electors of the Village,
said petitions to be filed with the Village Clerk on or
before May 10, 1939. Within ten days after May 10, 1939s the Clerk
shall, after due examination of said petitions as provided by law,
and if he finds that the same comply with the law governing elections
in Miami Shores Village in all respects both as to the qualifications
of said candidates and of the requisites of said petition, shall
certify that said petitions and the candidates for whom said petitions
were filed, shall be declared to be duly and properly nominated for
said election and said positions as aforesaid.
SECTION 2. After certification of petitions of the said
candidates as provided for in the foregoing section, the Clerk shall
give notice of said election in- aeeordance with the laws of said
Village, and place the names of said candidates upon the official
ballot of said Village for said election.
SECTION 3. Each word, phrase, sentence or section of this
ordinance shall be severable and the invalidity of any word, phrase,
sentence or section shall in no way or degree impair any other part
or parts thereof.
SECTION 4. All ordinances and parts of ordinances in
conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
SECTION 5. This ordinance shall be effective immediately
upon its passage.

1939.
