MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE ORDINANCE NO. 76
AN ORDINANCE RELATING TO THE REGISTRATION OF
ELECTORS FOR THE REGULAR ELECTION TO BE HELD
IN MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE ON JUNE 20, 1939.
BE IT ORDAINED BY MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE:
SECTION 1. A regular election for June 20, 1939, to elect
two members of the Village Council to succeed John M. Carlisle and
Hugh H. Gordon, Jr. , having been called by the Council for Tuesday,
June 20, 19392 the Clerk of the Village is hereby directed to open
the registration books of the Village on April 15, 1939, to allow
duly qualified electors of the Village to register therein up to
June 15, 19392 at which time the said Clerk shall close said registra-
tion books and thereafter refuse any further registrations.
SECTION 2. Qualifications of persons desiring to register 1
for said election shall be established by said electors and received
by said Clerk and the Council in accordance with the Charter of said
Village and of the ordinances and laws nowrin force and effect concern-
ing elections within said Village.
SECTION 3. Registration of persons prior to the adoption of
this ordinance for the purpose of establishing a residence for home-
stead exemption, " or because of absence from the Village during the
registration period heretofore accepted by the Clerk, are hereby rati-
fied, approved and confirmed, and the same are hereby acknowledged and
accepted as valid registrations of qualified electors within the mean-
ing and intent of the charter, ordinances and lags of the Village con-
cerning the same.
SECTION 4. Each word, phrase, sentence or section of this
ordinance shall be severable and the invalidity of any word, phrase,
sentence or section shall in no way or degree impair any other part
or parts thereof.
SECTION 5. All ordinances and parts of ordinances in con-
flict herewith are hereby repealed.
SECTION 6. This ordinance shall be effective immediately
upon its passage.
Unanimously passed and adopted this _f[_ day of April,
