O-002-32 ORDINANCE No. 2.
An Ordinance to be entitled:
AN ORDINANCE REQUIRING THE OPERATOR OR OPERATORS OF
EACH DOG TRACK OR KENNEL CLUB IN MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE '
TO OBTAIN FROM THE VILLAGE MANAGER A LICENSE FOR OPERATION
OF THE SAME; LEVYING A TAX OF $50.00 FOR EACH DAY SUCH DOG
TRACK OR KENNEL CLUB SHALL BE OPERATED IN THE VILLAGE;
MAKING IT UNLAWFUL TO OPERATE SUCH DOG TRACK OR KENNEL CLUB
IN THE VILLAGE WITHOUT FIRST PROCURING SUCH LICENSE AND
PAYING SUCH TAX; AND FIXING PENALTIES FOR VIOLATIONS OF
THE ORDINANCE.
BE IT -ORDAINED BY MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE:
Section 1* The operator or operators of each dog track
or kennel club where racing or running of dogs shall be conducted
in Miami Shores Village, before commencing operation thereof, shall
procure a license therefor from the Village Manager in a form to
be established, by the Village Manager and pay such Village Manager
for the use of the Village a tax of $60.00 for each day during *hich
said dog track or kennel olub shall be operated, the period of opera-
tion to be stated in the license, which tax is here-by levied by
Miami Shores Village.
Section 2. It shall be unlawful to operate or condiict
any dog track or kennel club or place where dogs shall be raced or
run without first procuring such lioense. and paying the tax aforesaid,
and any person, firm or corporation, or officer or employee of a
corporation, violating any provision of this ordinance shall be
fined not to exceed $500.00, or imprisoned at hard labor on the
streets or other works of the Village for a period not exceeding
thirty days, or shall be punished by both such fine and imprison-
ment, in the discretion of the Village judge, for each day on which
such place shall be 'operated or conducted in violation hereof.
Section 4, That this ordinance shall be published once
in a newspaper published in the City of Miami.. in Dade County,
Florida, and within f ive days thereafter shall be recorded by the
Village Clerk in the book kept for that purpose; but it is deemed
necessary by the Council for the public convenience that this ordi-
nance shall become effective immediately upon its passage, and it
is hereby declared to be an emergency ordinance and effective im-
mediately upon its passage.
