03-10-1981 Workshop Meeting• • MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE PLANNING AND ZONING BOARD WORKSHOP March 10, 1981 A workshop meeting of the Miami Shores Planning & Zoning Board was held at 7:30 p.m., March 10, 1981, at the Miami Shores Village Hall, with the following members present: Mr. J. Robert Stobs, Chairman Mr. J. S. Palmer Mr. Kevin P. O'Connor Mr. Kenneth Cutchens Mrs. Roberta Johnson Mr. Frank LuBien, Building Director, and Mr. William Fann, City Attorney were also present. Purpose of Workshop was discussion of Sign Ordinances. The following guidelines and clarifications were established: (1) Allowable sign areas are based on the length of building wall facing a street line. In "C" & "BI" Districts, this dimension is multiplied by 1.5 to get the total allowable square footage of sign area. In "B2" Districts, the dimension is multi- plied by 3. (2) The allowable area may be used for more than one sign as long as total area of all signs does not exceed allowable area. (3) Window signs listing current prices and directions are exempt from allowable area. (4) In the case of a corner unit, the side wall may have signs for the corner unit only. Any other signs on a side wall, even if the business is in the same building, will be considered as billboards, which are prohibited. (5) All signs must be at the location of the unit. Signs may not be placed elsewhere on building. (6) Signs are not permitted on awnings or sun screens. (7) Violations will be Cited to both owner and tenant. Prepared by: V
