In the absence of the Chairman, Mr. Astor was nominated to take the chair. Minutes of the last meeting were approved as printed by motion made by Mr. Moyer, seconded by Mr. Denham and passed. (1) A request was made by Mrs. Rose M. Abraham of 1184 N. E. 91st Terrace, to operate a travel service from her home. The proposal would require the use of one room of 234 sq. ft. which is less than the 20% permitted for a home office. Mrs. Abraham explained the limited type of operation she intended to carry on and her neighbor, Mr. Irving Horsey, assured the Board that he had no objection to her occupation. Based on the wording of the zoning ordinance which permits "an accountant, builder, insurance agent, real estate broker, or other person engaged in a similar occupation", Mr. Phoenix moved that the request be approved. The motion was seconded by Mr. Denham and passed 3/1 with Mr. Moyer dis senting. (2) A request was made by Mr. B. D. Duke of 145 N. E. 98th Street, to build an aluminum carport behind his existing non -conforming carport in the side yard setback, four feet from the property line. A ten - foot setback is required. After discussing this proposal with the Board Mr. Duke agreed to withdraw his request and attempt to use an overhanging awning that would not require a variance. The Building Inspector reported that Mr. Dan Barrie, 49 N. W. 108th Street, had taken out a permit to close up the door he had installed • -2- without permit and reinstall the door on the rear of the house entering onto a patio area.
