06-08-1972 Regular MeetingMIAMI SHORES VILLAGE PLANNING AND ZONING BOART) MEETING JUNE 8, 1972 A regular meeting of the Miami Shores Village Planning and Zoning Board was held at 7:30 p.m., June 8, 1972, at the Village Hall, with the following members present: Hr. Gordon H. Moyer, Jr. Mr. Harry F. Smenner, Jr., Acting Chairman Mr. Fred G. Astor Absent: Mr. James 0. Denham Mrs. Mirjorie `Dunn, Coundilwoman and lir. William R. Bradford, Building and Zoning 'director, were also present. The minutes of the Hay 18, 1972 meeting were approved by a motion made by r1r. Moyer, seconded by Mr. Astor and passed. (1) A request was made by Daniel Schmidt to construct a residence on Lot 15, Block 167, Miami Shores Section 6A, A 56.41 ft. lot on the N.E. corner of N.R. 1st Ave. and 94th Street. After review of the plans, Hr. Astor made a motion to approve the plans as presented subject to final plans being submitted for Building department approval. The motion was seconded by Mr. Moyer and passed unaminously. (2) Mr. Barry Swope, attorney for Mr. & Mrs. Toomer, pleaded on behalf of his clients for approval of the remodeling and redesign of their home at 1266 N.E. 94th Street. Mr. Swope pointed out the property owners in the immediate neighborhood who had no objections to the proposed modification to the residence, with only the neighbor to the West, Mrs. Herbert A. Mendell Jr., voicing an objection. Architect Charles Pawley explained the proposed changes which had been discussed with the Village Council at their June 6, 1972 meeting. There were 29 people at the meeting with interest in this matter. Mr. & Mrs. Douglas M. Williams 1270 N.E. 94th St. No objection Mr. & Mrs. Roy Williams Jr. 1220 N.E. 94th St. No objection Mr. & Mrs. Dan Bailey 1285 N.E. 94th St. No objection Mr. & Mrs. Francis P. Clarke 1213 N.E. 94th St. No objection Mr. & Mrs. Henry End 1201 N.E. 94th St. No objection Hr. End, a recognized interior decorator and a member of the greater Miami i • T3eautification program, feels that the proposed alteration would be an asset to the Village and to the neighborhood. lir. Richard Galpin said th.t the addition would not hurt but will be an asset to the Village. He further stated that modifications will increase the property value of the surrounding neighborhood. The Mendells who were the only objection from the neighborhood once again stated that they felt the alterations would decrease the value of their property and would prevent the present flow of fresh air. Mr. Arthur Moreno, who lives at 246 N.E. 92nd St., felt the alteration was severe and request should be denied because he didn't feel it was harmonious. After all were given opportunity to speak in favor of or opposi- tion to, the proposed alteration and addition, Mr. Moyer made a motion: "In view of the vast majority of the immediate neighbors approving this plan and since the full Village Council approved this revised plan, I move we approve this revised plan." The motion wa.s seconded by Mr. Astor and passed unaminously. The meeting adjourned at 8:45 p.m. Approved:
