03-23-1972 Regular MeetingMIAMI SHORES VILLAGE PLANNING AND ZONING BOARD MEETING March 23, 1972 A regular meeting of the Miami Shores Village Planning and Zoning Board was held at 7:30 p.m. , March 23, 1972, at the Village Hall with the following members present: Mr. Irving E. Horsey, Chairman Mr. Fred. G. Astor Mr. James O. Denham Mr. Harry F. Smenner, Jr. Absent: Mr. Gordon H. Moyer, Jr. Mr. William R. Bradford, Building and Zoning Director, was also present. Upon motion made by Mr. Smenner, seconded by Mr. Denham and passed, the minutes of the last meeting were approved as written. (1) A request was made by Tropical Chevrolet, 8880 Biscayne Blvd. , to add three service bays to their existing building. These bays would be in a building '30 ft. x 72 ft. attached to the existing service building on N. E. 4th .Avenue. The plans were reviewed and the Building Inspector reported that there were no variances involved. Upon motion made by Mr. Smenner, seconded by Mr. Astor and passed the plans were approved as presented. (2) Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Eubanks of 359 Grand Concourse requested permission to erect a 3-1/2 ft. chain link fence across the front of their house. The ordinance requires an ornamental iron or masonry fence in front yards. The request was discussed with the property owners who had recently purchased the home, which is on a 50 ft. lot, and want to use the front yard as a children's play area because there is so little rear yard. The request was denied by a motion made by Mr. Smenner, seconded by Mr. Denham and passed unanimously. (3) Mr. Irving Horsey presented plans for a sign, 7 ft. 8 in. by 5 ft. 7 in. , to be erected in front of the Presbyterian Church Chapel on the north side of 96th St. at 6th Ave. Mr. Denham moved that the Board approve the sign subject to it being located 25 ft. from 6th Ave. and 25 ft. from 96th St. The motion was seconded by Mr. Smenner and passed by three votes with Mr. Horsey abstaining.
