MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE
PLANNING AND ZONING BOARD MEETING
March 11, 1971
A regular meeting of the Miami Shores Planning and Zoning
Board was held at 7:30 p. m. , March 11, 1971, at the Village Hall, with
the following members present:
Mr. Donald W. McIntosh, Chairman
Mr. Gordon H. Moyer, Jr.
Mr. Thomas B. Baden
Absent: Mr. Irving E. Horsey
Mr. Fred G. Astor
Mr. William R. Bradford, Building and Zoning Director, was
also present.
Minutes of the last meeting were approved as written by motion
made by Mr. Moyer, seconded by Mr. Baden and passed.
(1) A request was made by Mr. Walter Lavigne of 320 N. E.
96th Street, to erect a 9 ft. x 20 ft. orchid house in his back yard. This
orchid house is manufactured by Wilson Fence Co. and is similar to others
installed in the Village. Section 516 (d) of the Zoning ordinance permits
structures for raising plants, subject to Planning Board approval if over
80 sq. ft. After a review of the plan Mr. Moyer moved that the request
for permit be granted. The motion was seconded by Mr. Baden and passed
unanimously.
(2) Mr. Wahl Snyder in preparation of plans for a residence
to be built on parts of Lots 5 and 6, Block 97, Miami Shores Sub., (530
Grand Concourse), requested approval of a 7 ft. privacy wall in the east
side yard setback. Mr. Snyder explained that this wall would act as a
shield for sound as well as afford privacy from view and the neighbor on
the other side of the wall, Mr. Dean Claussen, had no objection. After
discussion Mr. Baden moved that the Board recommend approval of a
variance to permit Mr. Snyder to erect a 7 ft, CBS privacy wall in the
southeast corner of the plot as outlined in red on the drawing presented,
and set back 5 ft. from the east property line. Mr. Moyer seconded the
motion and it was passed unanimously.
The meeting adjourned at 8:00 p.m.
