08-27-1970 Regular MeetingMIAMI SHORES VILLAGE PLANNING AND ZONING BOARD MEETING August 27, 1970 A regular meeting of the Miami. Shores Planning and Zoning Board was held at 7:30 p.m., August 27, 1970, at the Village Hall, with the following members present: Mr. Donald W. McIntosh, Chairman Mr. Gordon H. Moyer, Jr. Mr. Thomas B. Baden Mr. Fred G. Astor Absent: Mr. Irving E. Horsey Mr. William R. Bradford, Building and Zoning Director, was also present. Minutes of the last regular meeting were approved as written by motion made by Mr. Moyer, seconded by Mr. Astor and passed. (1) A request was made by Electro Neon Sign company for permit to erect signs on the back of the Publix shopping center, as well as, canopy signs over the walk along the front of the stores. The managers of Publix, Sears and the Danish Bakery, as well as the owner of the barber shop, spoke in support of the need for these signs. After a review of the plans Mr. Astor moved that the signs be standardized and that the existing signs be converted to the same design and that the colors be consistent on both the south wall and under the canopy. Motion was seconded by Mr. Baden and passed unanimously. (2) Request was rnade by Mr. R. J. Grover, 185 N. E. 100th Street, Lots 22, 23 and the east 1/2 of 21, Block 15, M. S. Sub. , to build on Lot 23, the 50 ft. lot adjacent to the inspection station on 100th Street. After some discussion Mr. Moyer moved that this request be tabled until such time as the Council acts on the Planning Board's recommendation concerning this lot. Motion was seconded by Mr. Astor and passed with Mr. Baden abstaining. (3) Plans were presented for a home to be built by Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Besade, on Lot 13, Miami Shores Bay View Sub. , which i4 at 94th Street and N. Bayshore Drive. The normal frontage of the lot is on 94th Street but the owners wish to face the house on Bayshore Drive with approval of certain variances in setbacks. After a review of the plans Mr. Baden moved that the Board recommend to the Council 8/27/70 -2- that the plans be approved with the following provisions: that the petitioner be allowed to face the house on Bayshore Drive with the setback on Bayshore Drive not greater than 25 ft. but maintaining the same setback as the • dwelling on the north at 1298 N. E. 95th St. , with a 25 ft. setback on 94th Street, a 7-1/2 ft. setback from the north property line to the pool deck, and a 10 ft. setback on the west line. Motion was seconded by Mr.. Moyer and passed unanimously. The meeting adjourned at 9:25 p. m. • Approved:
