PLANNING AND ZONING BOARD MEETING
July 9, 1970
A regular meeting of the Miami Shores Planning and Zoning Board
was held at 7:30 p.m. , July 9, 1970, at the Village Hall, with the following
members present:
Mr. Gordon H. Moyer, Jr.
Mr. Irving E. Horsey
Mr. Fred G. Astor
Absent: Mr. Donald W. McIntosh, Chairman
Mr. Thomas B. Baden
Mr. William R. Bradford, Building and Zoning Director, was also
present.
Mr. Horsey was asked to take the chair in the absence of Chairman
Don McIntosh.
Minutes of the last regular meeting were approved as written by
motion made by Mr. Moyer, seconded by Mr. Astor and passed.
(1) A request was made by Mr. J. Laurant Brown of 125 N. E.
106th Street, to erect a wood sun shade on the front and rear of his house
as an architectural design feature. The work had progressed without a permit.
Mr. Brown stated he had not intentionally gone ahead without a permit. He
had left his plans at City Hall prior to starting work and had assumed there
had been a permit taken out, especially since the Building Inspector had
made several trips to hishome during construction of a swimming pool
without mentioning anything about the other construction going on. Mr. Brown
stated he did not know wood was not allowed.
Mr. Astor moved that since this work has apparently been
done without a permit due to a misunderstanding on the part of the owner
builder, that Mr. Bradford inspect the work immediately for structural
integrity and grant a permit if he finds the structural integrity is acceptable
and further, that Mr. Brown submit a request for a variance for the west
fence which exceeds the allowable height. The motion was seconded by Mr.
Moyer and passed unanimously.
The meeting adjourned at 8:45 p.m.
