02-13-1969 Regular MeetingMIAMI SHORES VILLAGE PLANNING AND ZONING BOARD MEETING February 13, 1969 A regular meeting of the Miami Shores Planning and Zoning Board was held at 7:30 P. M. , February 13, 1969, at the Village Hall, with the following members present: Mr. Gordon H. Moyer, Jr. Mr. Thomas B. Baden Mr. Donald W. McIntosh Mr. Irving E. Horsey Absent: Chairman Donald W. Hoefle Mr. William R. Bradford, Building and Zoning Director, was also present. In the absence of the Chairman Mr. McIntosh was asked to conduct the meeting. Minutes of the last meeting of January 23, 1969 were approved as written by motion made by Mr. Horsey, seconded by Mr. Moyer and passed. (1) A request was made by Barry College for permit to construct six tennis courts at the southwest corner of their property, 8 ft. north of the wall along 111th Street and 256 ft. east of Miami Avenue. The courts are to be surrounded by a 10 ft. chain link fence. Mr. Day, business manager of the College, was present and stated that he felt this location had been selected because the area could not be used for buildings because of the treatment plant drain field adjoining the area to the north. In discussing setbacks Mr. Moyer recalled that the Village does not have a dedication to 111th Street from the College and he felt that this should be accomplished at this time, or their property line established. Mr. Moyer then moved a recommendation to the Council that consideration be given these proposed tennis courts in the requested location provided that a zoned right-of-way line on 111th Street be established and that setbacks for any improvements be based on this zoned street line, and further that since this is a 10 ft. high chain link fence that the neighbors across the street be consulted before permit is granted as to the fence and use. Motion was seconded by Mr. Baden and passed unanimously. (2) Dade County School Board presented plans for the construction of a kindergarten building at the Miami Shores Elementary School, on the northwest corner of the property, east of the existing parking lot, facing 105th Street. After some discussion of these plans Mr. Baden moved that • • 2/13/69 -2- the Board accept the plans as submitted for the new kindergarten building at the Miami Shores Elementary School subject to its conforming with our established setback requirements and that consideration should be given to an architectural style that would be compatible with the surrounding residential area. Motion was seconded by Mr. Horsey and passed unanimously. (3) Mr. McIntosh relinquished the chair for presentation of the following item: D. W. McIntosh & Associates requested permit to add a 30 x 40 ft. office building to existing offices at 581 N. E. 91st Street with neither the existing building nor the addition providing any off-street park- ing. Mr. McIntosh pointed out other locations in the area where no off-street parking has been provided. After some discussion Mr. Baden moved that the Board approve the plans as rendered for this addition, subject to the proper set backs, and that all on -street parking be at a 45 degree angle. Motion was seconded by Mr. Moyer and carried by three affirmative votes. The meeting adjourned at 9:45 P. M. Village jerk Approved:
