PLANNING AND ZONING BOARD MEETING
May 11, 1967
A regular meeting of the Miami Shores Planning and Zoning
Board was held at 7:30 P. M. , May 11, 1967, at the Village Hall with
the following members present:
Mr. Thomas B. Baden, Chairman
Mr. M. B. Arnold
Mr. Gordon H. Moyer, Jr.
Mr. Donald W. Hoefle
Mr. Donald W. McIntosh
Minutes of the last meeting were approved as written.
(1) A request was made by 60 Minutes, Inc. to establish a
package unit cleaning plant in one of the new stores in the Publix market
complex, the farthest one to the east along Biscayne Blvd. This was
z ning
brought before the Planning Board for approval of use as the ordinance
allows "establishments for only receiving and delivering articles for
cleaning, laundering, or dyeing." Mr. Bradford reported that a non-
flamable cleaning solvent is used, that the boiler will have to be
installed according to the code and that the cooling tower will be properly
shielded. Mr. Baden stated that he and Mr. Bradford had inspected two
similar plants and reported that the noise is not a problem, that the shop
was appealing and pleasant, very little steam or fumes, and that from a
community service standpoint it should be considered for this shopping
center. Mr. Arnold moved that the Board recommend to the City Council
that the use be approved, that the architectural requirements be the same
as those adhered to by the Publix Market, and that a 3 x 12 ft. sign be
approved in keeping with the sketch presented. Motion was seconded by
Mr. McIntosh and passed unanimously.
The meeting adjourned at 8:10 P.M.
