PLANNING AND ZONING BOARD MEETING
July 14, 1966
A regular meeting of the Miami Shores Planning and Zoning
Board was held at 7:30 P. M. , July 14, 1966, at the Village Hall with the
following members present:
Mr. Thomas B. Baden, Chairman
Mr. M. B. Arnold
Mr. Gordon H. Moyer, Jr.
Mr. Emrys C. Harris
Absent: Mr. Donald W. Hoefle
Mr. Charles H. Markel attended in the absence of Mr. Bradford,
Building Director.
Minutes of the last meeting were approved as written by motion
made by Mr. Arnold, seconded by Mr. Harris and passed unanimously.
(1) A request was made by Mr. Horacio Aguirre for permit
to construct an addition to his home at 620 Grand Concourse, Lot 9 and 10
less the southwest 15 ft. , Block 102, Miami Shores Sub. , with a side yard
setback variance. A letter was presented from Mr. William Lehman, the
property owner on the east, stating he had no objection to the requested
5 ft. setback at the rear. After some discussion it was suggested that this
addition be moved two feet to the west bringing it in line with the existing
structure at the point it will be attached. This will leave a 7 ft. side setback
at the rear as the lot line is not parallel. Mr. Arnold moved that the Board
approve the plot plan provided it is moved over two feet with the front portion
of the new addition in line with the present structure which will allow a 10 ft.
setback on the forward part of the addition and a 7 ft. setback at the rear
and that building plans be presented to the Building Inspector. Motion was
seconded by Mr. Harris and passed unanimously.
Mr. Baden mentioned a call he had received concerning the use
of property across N. E. 2nd A.venue for a parking lot for the Lutheran Church.
Mr. Moyer asked why a builder's "model home" sign was
permitted on the home that is for sale at the southwest corner of Miami
Avenue and 100th Street.
Mr. Moyer introduced a discussion of the deplorable condition
of the interior of the Shores Theatre and asked if anything could be done to
