PLANNING AND ZONING BOARD MEETING
December 9, 1965
A regular meeting of the Miami Shores Planning and Zoning
Board was held at 7:30 P. M. , December 9, 1965, at the Village Hall, with
the following members present:
Mr. Thomas B. Baden, Chairman
Mr. Gordon H. Moyer, Jr.
Mr. Emrys C. Harris
Mr. Donald W. Hoefle
Absent: Mr. Marion B. Arnold
Mr. Charles Markel attended the meeting in the absence of Mr.
Bradford, Building Director.
Minutes of the last meeting were approved as written by motion
made by Mr. Moyer, seconded :by Mr. Harris and passed unanimously.
(1) A request was made by Mrs. Genova Evans, 9326 N. W.
2nd P1. , Lot 3, Block 1, O'Dell Manors, to erect a replacement patio
cover of aluminum in the side yard, this roof to project 3-1/2 ft. into the
side yard. After some discussion it was decided that this could be
accomplished without a variance by bringing the supporting posts in to the
building line without using any of the side setback. Mr. Harris moved
that the request be granted subject to moving the columns back from the
north lot line ten feet to take into account our normal setback and permit
an overhang of 3-1/2 ft. which falls within the regulations as 4 ft. is
permitted. Motion was seconded by Mr. Hoefle and passed unanimously.
(2) Mrs. Bertha Harwood, 144 N. E. 91st St. , requested
permission to add a bath to her residence. This was brought before the
Planning Board because there is a non -conforming building on this premises
of two garage apartments. The Planning Board felt that adding a bath to
the main house would have no affect on the rental property, and indicated
they would act favorably on such a request if and when application is made.
(3) Application was made by the Thunderball Family Hobby
Center for an occupational license to operate a hobby center with miniture
car racing at 9701 N. E. 2nd Ave. , formerly occupied by Stevens Pictures.
Mr. Albert Rosenblum discussed this operation and explained that it was
more in the nature of a retail hobby shop than an amusement center; that
