PLANNING AND ZONING BOARD MEETING
September 23, 1965
A regular meeting of the Miami Shores Planning and Zoning
Board was held at 7:30 P. M. , September 23, 1965, at the Village Hall,
with the following members present:
Mr. Thomas B. Baden, Chairman
Mr. Gordon H. Moyer, Jr.
Mr. Emrys C. Harris
Absent: Mr. M. B. Arnold
Mr. Donald W. Hoefle
Mr. William R. Bradford, Building and Zoning Director, was
also present.
Minutes of the last meeting were approved as written by motion
made by Mr. Moyer, seconded by Mr. Harris and passed unanimously.
(1) Permit was requested for an equipment and utility room
addition to the disposal plant at Barry College. This building is to be
attached to the north wall of the disposal building. The contractor, Mr.
Jim Brennan, was present as well as Mr. Weintraub, the architect.
The Board was not satisfied with the appearance of the building which will
be along Miami Avenue nor the present landscaping around the disposal
plant. The petitioners stated they will resubmit it at the next meeting of
October 14th.
(2) The landscaping plan for the Miami Shores Presbyterian
Church parking lot was presented. After some discussion of this plan
Mr. Harris moved that the plan as submitted be approved subject to the
following changes (1) that a low hedge be placed in the strip adjacent to the
sidewalk on 96th St. with three openings therein as desired by the Church
for entrance paths and egress and (2) that all the islands be planted with
grass in every other interval between the Adonidia trees and with gravel
in the alternate intervals, and subject further to the Church being authorized
to place grass in all of the strips if so desired. Motion was seconded by
Mr. Moyer and passed unanimously.
Mr. Harris brought up the landscaping of the Tropical Chevrolet
parking lot along 6th Avenue which has never been done. The Building
Inspector reported he has never given them a final inspection or issued

them a Certificate of Occupancy, because of certain technicalities which
have not been completed in the building. The Board asked why these pro-
visions had not been enforced.
Mr. Moyer again asked if anything further had been done to
rectify the unsightly air conditioning unit on the roof of a home on Miami
Avenue at 106th St. Mr. Bradford stated they have never done anything
about it.
The meeting adjourned at 8:30 P.M,
