06-25-1964 Regular MeetingMIAMI SHORES VILLAGE
PLANNING AND ZONING BOARD MEETING
June 25, 1964
A regular meeting of the Miami Shores Village Planning and Zoning
Board was held at 7:30 P.M., June 25, 1964, at the Village Hall, with the
following members present:
Mr. Emrys C. Harris, Chairman
Mr. M. B. Arnold
Mr. Gordon H. Moyer, Jr.
Mr. Thomas B. Baden
Absent: Mr. Donald W. Hoefle
Mr. William R. Bradford, Building and Zoning Director, was also
present.
Minutes of the last meeting were approved as written by motion made
by Mr. Arnold, seconded by Mr. Baden and passed unanimously.
(1) Mr. Irving Horsey, architect, presented a sketch of the pro-
posed chapel to be built by the Presbyterian Church. Also included in these
plans was the detail on the chapel spire which Mr. Horsey stated met the
requirements of the Village zoning regulations. Mr. Arnold moved that the
Board approve the height of the spire and the plans as submitted. Motion was
seconded by Mr. Moyer and passed unanimously.
(2) Concerning the building addition at 22 N. W. 106th St., the
Building Inspector reported that this construction has been going on for the
last two years and that the current permit has expired. Mr. Reinhart, the
owner, has asked for more time as he plans to be out of the country for several
months. Mr. Arnold moved that the permit be renewed for a period of 60 days
and that Mr. Reinhart be informed that he has a 60 -day extension and that the
building has to be completed by that time or we will turn the matter over to
the City Attorney. Motion was seconded by Mr. Baden and passed unanimously.
Mr. Jack Finnegar introduced Mr. Kelstead, Chairman of the Board
of the General Development Corp., and Mr. Jim Rankin, who informally asked
the Board its opinion of their using the land north of the Country Club for the
executive offices of the General Development Corp. and the display of model
homes. Mr. Harris pointed out that the residential zoning on the Boulevard
has been upheld by the Supreme Court and any business use of this land would
affect all the Boulevard property. He felt the residents would be very much
against any rezoning in this area. Mr. Kelstead stated his company would not
be interested in any property that would require a zoning battle.
The meeting adjourned at 8:30 P. M.
