03-22-1962 Regular MeetingMIAMI SHORES VILLAGE PLANNING AND ZONING BOARD MEETING March 22, 1962 A regular meeting of the Miami. Shores Village Planning and Zoning Board was held at 7:30 P. M. , March 22,. 1962, at the Village Hall, with the following members present: Mr. Gordon H. Moyer, Jr., Chairman Mr. Marion B. Arnold Mr. Elwood Jones Mr. Emrys C. Harris Mr. Thomas B. Baden Absent: None Mr. Charles H. Markel, Building and Zoning Director, and Mr. William Bradford, Assistant Director, were also present. Minutes of the. last meeting were approved as written by motion made by Mr. Baden, seconded by Mr. Arnold and passed unanimously. (1) Mr. James Jones requested a permit for an addition to the Dr. Armstrong building at 9415 N. E. 6th Ave. This addition is designed to have a 10 ft. side yard by figuring the distance from the building to the center of an unused alley adjacent to the side yard, which the Village does not intend to open. The 10 ft. side yard would thus be provided by 2-1/2 ft. of the lot and 7-1/2 ft. of the unused alley. Councilman Spencer W. Rudnick appeared at this meeting and read from the minutes of the last Council meeting the action taken on this plan at that meeting. He also pointed out to the Planning Board the proper procedure as outlined in the zoning ordinance for handling variances. After discussion Mr. Arnold moved that the Board deny the Council's request because the applicant has not followed the proper procedure and that the Council withdraw its approval until the Planning Board has considered it in the proper channels. Motion was seconded by Mr. Baden and passed unanimously. (2) Mr. Buck C. Crouch, a prospective owner of the property at 86 N. E. 110th St., requested a variance to build a lounge -bedroom leaving a 7 ft. 8 in. side yard. It was the opinion of some members of the Board that this would impair the design of the house, was not the proper location for an addition to this home as there was plenty of room in the rear to build an addition, and would spoil the effect of the wide 3/22/62 -2- side yards between homes on this street. Mr. Baden moved that the Board deny this request for variance. Motion was seconded by Mr. Jones and passed unanimously. The meeting adjourned at 8:20 P. M, • Clerk Clerk Approved:
