January 25, 1962
A regular meeting of the Miami Shores Village Planning and Zoning
Board was held at 7:30 P. M. , January 25, 1962, at the Village Hall, with
the following members present:
Mr. Gordon H. Moyer, Jr. , Chairman
Mr. Elwood Jones
Mr. Thomas B. Baden
Absent: Mr. Marion B. Arnold
Mr. Emrys C. Harris
Mr. Charles H. Markel, Building and Zoning Director, Mr. William
Bradford, Assistant Director, and the Village Manager, were also present.
Minutes of the last meeting were approved as written by motion
made by Mr. Jones, seconded by Mr. Baden and passed unanimously.
(1) A request was made for a permit by Mr. Dan Schmidt to
build on Lot 4, Golden Gate Park Subdivision, located on the north side
of N. E. 92nd St. west of 10th Ave. This is a 50 x 140 ft. lot on which
there is now a small CBS house and a frame shack. Mr. Schmidt intends
to remove these dwellings and construct a new home. Mr. Baden moved
that the Board recommend approval of the plan as submitted for construction
of a single family home and removal of the existing house and frame shack.
Motion was seconded by Mr. Jones and passed unanimously.
(2) Final plans were presented for the Kwik Chek store and
adjoining store buildings to be constructed on property to the east of
Uncle Johnts Pancake House, between 90th and 91st Streets in Asbury
Park Subdivision. Mr. Paul Kinney was present to request that the Board
give special consideration to the garbage and loading area which will be
directly across the street from his apartments. Mr. Jones moved that
the Board recommend to the Council that they approve the plan submitted
with reasonable beautification on the 91st Street service entrance in regard
to the apartment houses on the north side of the street. Motion was
seconded by Mr. Baden and passed unanimously.
(3) A verbal request was made for permit to move the house
at 231 N. E. 94th Street located on property owned by Peoples National
Bank, to Lots 14 and 15, Block 65, Miami Shores Sub. The proposed

new location for this house is immediately west of Mr. Joseph Cheetham,
730 N. E. 94th Street. The Building Inspector reported that the house
conforms to the required cube and that all setbacks will be met. Mr. Cheetham
was present and voiced objections to moving an old house to this site
inasmuch as it needs paint and repairs and he felt it would not increase
the value of the property around it. However, after some discussion,
Mr. Cheetham stated he would withdraw his objections if this owner
would assure him that the house would be put in good repair and appearance.
As no formal application was at hand, the Board took no action but seemed
to have an open mind on the matter.
Clerk
The meeting adjourned at 9:00 P. M.
