03-10-1960 Regular MeetingMIAMI SHORES VILLAGE PLANNING AND -ZONING BOARD MEETING March 10, 1960 A regular meeting of the Miaxni Shores Village Planning and Zoning Board was held at 7:30 P. M. , March 10, 1960 at the Village Hall, with the following members present: Mr. Marion B. Arnold, Chairman Mr. Gordon H. Moyer, Jr. Mr. Elwood Jones Col. Thomas F. Burke Mr. Emrys C. Harris Absent: None Mr. Charles H. Markel, Building and Zoning Director, was also present. Minutes of the last regular meeting were approved as written by motion made by Mr. Moyer, seconded by Mr. Jones and passed unanimously. (1) Plans were presented for a house to be built by Mr. Dan Crane for the owner, Mr. Raymond Metzen, on Lot 14 & S 1/2 of 13, Block 1, M.S. Sub., 81 ft. x 130 ft. at the northeast corner of 91st St. and Miami. Ave. Request was made to face the house on 91st St., main- taining a 25 ft. setback on Miami Ave. as well as 91st St. Mr. Jones moved that the request be granted. Motion was seconded by Col. Burke and passed unanimously. (2) Mr. P. L. Watson, property owner, and Mr. Lewis Holman of Rocket International, makers of automatic car wash equipment, were present in regard to the installation of an automobile laundry to be located on Biscayne Blvd., south of Albert's. Motel. The Building Inspector pointed out that the maintaining of an open front building was prohibited by the zoning ordinance. After some discussion Mr. Jones moved that this request be denied. Col. Burke seconded the motion because of the hazardous traffic condition, and it was passed unanimously. (3) Mr. and Mrs. Edward Olaf, 100 N. E. 95th St., were present at the request of the Building Inspector, because it was discovered that they had installed an outside door to one of their bedrooms, without permit, and were using it for rental purposes, as well as another room. The Planning Board told the Building Inspector the door would have to be closed up. 3/11/60 -2- Col. Burke brought up a complaint about Mr. Guernseyos building shack which it was felt should not be permitted any longer in a residential area. Mr. Arnold asked Mr. Markel to talk to Mr. Guernsey about this and bring a report back to the Board. Mr. Harris brought up a previous discussion concerning beautification of the parking lots off 2nd Ave. He then moved that all property owners who have parking lots that have been paved and are being used as lots who were supposed to put up a hedge or wall, be notified that they must comply within a reasonable period of time with the ordinance and that Mr. Markel be instructed to so advise them. Motion was seconded by Mr. Moyer and passed unanimously. The meeting adjourned at 8:15 P. M. Clerk Approved: ),71 man
