PLANNING AND ZONING BOARD MEETING
July 23, 1959
A regular meeting of the Miami Shores Village Planning and
Zoning Board was held at 7:30 P.M., July 23, 1959, at the Village Hall,
with the following members present:
Mr. Marion B. Arnold, Chairman
Mr. Elwood Jones
Mr. Gordon H. Moyer, Jr.
Gol. Thomas F. Burke
Mr, Emrys Harris
Absent: None
Mr. Charles H. Markel, Building and Zoning Director, and Mr.
William Bradford, Assistant, were also present.
Upon motion made by Mr. Jones, seconded by Mr. Moyer and
passed unanimously, minutes of the last regular meeting were approved
as written.
(1) Request for permit was made by Mr. Donald Stout, 73
N. E. 99th St., Lots 22 and 23, Block 9, to make an addition to his
home by joining the main house with an accessory building, formerly a
garage. However, inasmuch as the garage has only a five foot setback
from the alley, it will bring part of the main house to within five feet
of the alley. After discussion Mr. Jones moved that the Planning Board
approve the request due to the fact that the original garage on the alley
was built before the ordinance was in effect. Motionw'as seconded by
Col. Burke and passed unanimously.
(2) Mr. Paul Lanets plan for a residence on Lot 1, Block 72,
was again discussed inasmuch as the Council had sent it back to the
Planning Board for a review of the setbacks. Mr. Arnold relinquished
the chair to Mr. Moyer and moved that the Planning Board recommend
to the Village Council that they reconsider this plan for the reason. that the
applicant has complied with all the ordinances as to setbacks both on the
street side and the avenue side and that there is nothing insofar as we
know in the ordinances that prohibits this type of structure in this
particular area. Motion was seconded by Mr. Jones and passed unanimously.
