PENSION BOARD MEETING
The meeting of the Miami Shores Pension Board was called to order at
8:05 a.m. on Wednesday January 28, 1987 by Mayor Karen Kirby with the
following in attendance:

Dr. Robert Butler
Mr. William Walker
Sergeant Jack Ulmer
Mr. Melvin Moore
Mr. William Heffernan
Mr. Les Forney, Jr.
Also Present:
Mr. William. Fane-, Village Attorney
Ms. Gail Macdonald, Pension
Administrator
1. A motion to approve the minutes of the November 6, 1986 Pension Board
meeting was made by Mr. Walker and seconded by Dr. Butler.
The motion passed unanimously.
2. A motion was made by Sergeant Ulmer to approve the Benefit Certification
for Helen Reichert and seconded by Mr. Walker.
The motion passed unanimously.
3. Sergeant. Ulmer made a motion that Mr. Forney, acting on the behalf of
the Pension Board solicit input and obtain different proposals with regard
to the legal study of the Pension Plan and report back to the Board at the
February 13, 1987 meeting. The motion was seconded by Mr. Walker
The motion passed. unanimously.
4. A discussion was held with Board members with regard to the Union Pension
demands for example; the retirement age reduced to 55 years of age and the
ramifications of such a change. Mr. Forneyexplained that all such demands
should be discussed between the City Administration and the Union, then
taken to the City Council for their approval and then to the Pension Board
for their administration. The Pension Board than has to send it to the
State before it could be implemented.
5. A motion for adjournment was made by Mr. Walker and seconded by Mr. Forney.
The motion passed unanimously.
