2015-03-19 HPB Minutes• MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE HISTORIC PRESERVATION BOARD MEETING The Miami Shores Historic Preservation Board met on Thursday, March 19, 2015 at Village Hall. Members present were: Seth Bramson, Steve Mumby and Michael O'Hara. Village Clerk, Barbara Estep, was also present. Mr. Mumby and Mr. O'Hara disclosed that they had visited or viewed the property located at 29 N.E. 91st Street. Action Item Request for Certificate of Appropriateness 29 N.E. 91st Street Applicants: Ido Alexander Request: Two Story Addition New Concrete Deck Change in Exterior Paint Color Property owners, Ido and Jacqueline Alexander, as well as their architect/agent, Anne Jackaway, were present. Ms. Estep reviewed the various items to be considered and pointed out a number of the particulars regarding the Alexander property and home, i.e. that the home was permitted and built in 1926 by the City of Miami, and that the home is built out to within 4 . to 5 feet of the side property lines. Ms. Jackaway presented the scope of the project and reviewed the plans with the Board Members. • The Board Members discussed the proposed addition to the home, its relationship to the existing structure and was shown a copy of the original plans for the home for comparison purposes. Board discussion and questions centered on the replacement patio and its position within the side setback, the front windows and door, the west side wall "perforated" feature and the proposed addition of decorative medallions on the new addition. The Board reviewed the proposed exterior paint colors for approval which are much lighter in nature and more accurately depict the era in which the home was built. Subsequent to the discussions amongst the Board Members, the property owners and the architect, Mr. Bramson moved to approve the Certificate of Appropriateness to include: 1) Granting a historic preservation variance to allow the proposed two story addition with the rear stair landing extending to align with the current west wall of the home, 2) Granting a historic preservation variance to allow for the proposed concrete deck to replace an existing wood deck which is situated in the side setback on the east side of the property, 3) Granting a historic preservation variance to all the existing parking area to the rear of the home to satisfy the current Code's parking requirement, 4) Benjamin Moore #OC 74 as the primary exterior paint color and Benjamin Moore #OC 53 as the exterior trim paint color; . and subject to the following conditions: 1) New impact windows will be clear glass with white frames, 2) Proposed decorative medallions will be stricken/removed from the plans and not installed, 3) West side wall with "perforation" detail will remain as currently constructed. Mr. Mumby seconded the motion and the vote was unanimous in favor of the motion. The March 19, 2015 was adjourned at 7:55 PM. • Barbara A. Estep, MMC Village Clerk
