04-22-2014 Regular Meeting• MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE HISTORIC PRESERVATION BOARD MEETING • The Miami Shores Village Historic Preservation Board held a meeting on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 in the Council Chambers of Village Hall. The meeting was called to order at 6:30 PM with the following individuals present: PRESENT: Seth Bramson Alain Gonzalez David Hunter Nina Korman ACTION ITEM 1. Request for Certificate of Appropriateness 374 N.E. 95th Street Applicants: Marc & Leanna Adler Request: Front Door and Glass Block Window Replacement Mr. Adler was present and explained his request with respect to replacing the current wood front door as well as the glass block window which is situated above the front door. Fellow resident, father-in-law, and former head of the County's Historic Preservation Board, Ivan Rodriguez, offered a brief historical overview of the property and spoke in support of the project. In response to questions posed from the Board Members, Mr. Adler confirmed that the architectural feature surrounding the front door would not be removed and that the size of the window replacing the glass block window would be the same as the current opening. Following this discussion, Mr. Bramson moved to approve the Request for Certificate of Appropriateness. Mr. Gonzalez seconded the motion and the vote was unanimous in favor of the motion. Mr. Bramson then raised the issue of Biscayne Boulevard's co -designation as Hugh Anderson Boulevard and his opinion that Ellen Spears Harris should also be recognized on that signage. Ms. Estep provided information regarding the time and efforts spent on that particular roadway designation and that although the Historic Preservation Board had suggested that N.E. 6th Avenue be recognized and co -designated as Ellen Spears Harris Avenue; the Village Council did not take action on their recommendation. Ms. Estep advised Mr. Bramson of his options to pursue the issue. ADJOURNMENT The meeting was adjourned at 6:45 PM. Barbara A.
