HISTORIC PRESERVATION BOARD MEETING

The Miami Shores Village Historic Preservation Board held a meeting on Tuesday,
April 22, 2014 in the Council Chambers of Village Hall. The meeting was called
to order at 6:30 PM with the following individuals present:
PRESENT: Seth Bramson
Alain Gonzalez
David Hunter
Nina Korman
ACTION ITEM
1. Request for Certificate of Appropriateness
374 N.E. 95th Street
Applicants: Marc & Leanna Adler
Request: Front Door and Glass Block Window Replacement
Mr. Adler was present and explained his request with respect to replacing the current
wood front door as well as the glass block window which is situated above the front
door. Fellow resident, father-in-law, and former head of the County's Historic
Preservation Board, Ivan Rodriguez, offered a brief historical overview of the property
and spoke in support of the project.
In response to questions posed from the Board Members, Mr. Adler confirmed that the
architectural feature surrounding the front door would not be removed and that the size
of the window replacing the glass block window would be the same as the current
opening.
Following this discussion, Mr. Bramson moved to approve the Request for Certificate of
Appropriateness. Mr. Gonzalez seconded the motion and the vote was unanimous in
favor of the motion.
Mr. Bramson then raised the issue of Biscayne Boulevard's co -designation as Hugh
Anderson Boulevard and his opinion that Ellen Spears Harris should also be recognized
on that signage. Ms. Estep provided information regarding the time and efforts spent
on that particular roadway designation and that although the Historic Preservation Board
had suggested that N.E. 6th Avenue be recognized and co -designated as Ellen Spears
Harris Avenue; the Village Council did not take action on their recommendation. Ms.
Estep advised Mr. Bramson of his options to pursue the issue.
ADJOURNMENT
The meeting was adjourned at 6:45 PM.
