07-17-2006 Regular Meeting• • • MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE HISTORIC PRESERVATION BOARD The Miami Shores Village Historic Preservation Board met on Monday, July 17, 2006, at the Village Hall. The Meeting was called to order at 6:30 PM with the following individuals present: PRESENT: Bob Davis Carolyne Cadwallader Nina Korman Madeleine Romanello ALSO PRESENT: David Dacquisto, Planning & Zoning Director Barbara Estep, Village Clerk ACTION ITEMS 1) Minutes — November 17, 2005 Ms. Cadwallader moved to approve the November 17, 2005 Minutes as submitted. Ms. Romanello seconded the motion and the vote was unanimous in favor of the motion. 2) APPLICATION FOR CERTIFICATE OF APPROPRIATENESS Applicant: Alain & Carly Gonzalez - Owner 389 N.E. 99th Street Request: Addition Mr. Gonzalez outlined the proposed addition, including an explanation of the details regarding materials to be used, i.e. windows, awnings, etc. Mr. Gonzalez showed where the proposed dining room, family room and second story bedroom/bath and balcony would be located. In response to concerns voiced by a Board Member with the front elevation, Mr. Gonzalez spoke of the research conducted and the numerous designs he had considered but because of the way his home is located on the lot, the addition to the home needs to be constructed in the manner currently proposed. Following this discussion, Ms. Cadwallader moved to grant the Certificate of Appropriateness as requested. Ms. Romanello seconded the motion and the vote was unanimous in favor of the motion. 3) APPLICATION FOR CERTIFICATE OF APPROPRIATENESS Applicant: Mark Campbell — Architect For Kenneth Smith — Owner 361 N.E. 97th Street Request: Addition and Re -Roof Mr. Mark Campbell, Architect for the project, was present and spoke on behalf of the owner. Mr. Campbell explained the proposed addition to the rear of the home and the replacement of the rotted and damaged wood doors, windows and 2"d floor railings and posts. Mr. Campbell went on to say that when the railings and posts are replaced, he will bring it to code (new height and posts spaced closer together). Mr. Campbell confirmed that the owner had wood windows to replace the rotten frames and that the materials to be used will be matched to the existing wood type. In addition, Mr. Campbell indicated that roof tiles were on order which would match the current tiles and that when received, a • • • new tile roof would be installed. A brief discussion regarding the 2nd floor railings and the architectural details to be replaced ensued. Following the discussion, Ms. Romanello moved to grant the Certificate of Appropriateness.
