01-23-2001 Regular Meeting (2)i at MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE HISTORIC PRESERVATION BOARD MINUTES A regular meeting of the Miami Shores Village Historic Preservation Board was held at Village Hall on. Tuesday, January 23, 2001. The meeting was called to order at 7:35 p.m. by Chairman Bittner with the following members present and absent: Present: Warren Bittner, Chairman Maria Temkin, Vice Chairperson Dennis E. Arden, Member Suzanne Blas, Member Carolyne Cadwallader, Member Martha Anne Collins, Member Absent: William Tenney, Member AGENDA ITEMS APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF AUGUST 21, 2000 Ms. Temkin pointed out an error in the address of one of the applicants. Mr. Arden moved to approve the minutes as amended. The motion was seconded by Ms. Cadwallader and passed unanimously. PUBLIC HEARING ITEMS 1. APPLICATION FOR CERTIFICATE OF APPROPRIATENESS 21 N.W. 1015` Street APPLICANTS: LUIS & JANET BETH CRUZ Maintenance or Repair: Repaint exterior of home, windows, doors and trim. Mr. and Mrs. Cruz were both present and spoke to the Board. Mr. Cruz advised the Board that they wished to proceed with a lighter shade of yellow, instead of the color that was submitted with the application. Mr. & Mrs. Cruz explained that they had researched the colors of Cape Cod homes on the internet and submitted an example. After some discussion, Mr. Arden moved to approve the application with the following conditions: (1) the main portion of the house (the field color) would be painted Behr "Field Gold - 1A9-4" ; (2) the chimney would be painted Behr " Saffron - 1A9-3" ; • Historic Preservation Board Regular Meeting • • January 23, 2001 Page 2 (3) the doors and windows would be painted Behr "Flat Red Bard - 4C 18-3" ; (4) the base course would be painted Behr "Alpine View (green) - 3B58-6; and (5) all trim would be painted Behr "Arrowroot (white) - 3B6-1" . The motion was seconded by Ms. Blas and passed unanimously. ANNOUNCEMENTS/COMMENTS 2. "SHORELAND BLVD." CODESIGNATION SIGNS: Ms. Cadwallader suggested that the Board use the monies from the last tour to pay for the remaining co -designation signs necessary for " Shoreland Blvd." and made a motion to that effect, seconded by Ms. Collins. The motion passed unanimously. Mr. Bittner agreed to contact the Village Manager, Mr. Benton, to get it done. 3. DESIGNATION OF 339 N.E. 100Th STREET: Ms. Cadwallader indicated that she still wants her home to be considered for designation. Mr. Bittner agreed to prepare the documentation for the next Board meeting. 4. 2001 DESIGNATION DRIVE: Ms. Blas and Ms. Collins agreed to spear -head the "2001 Designation Drive." They will review the language of the 1998 Designation Drive letter, and suggest improvements to the Board at the next meeting. Mr. Bittner agreed to provide the List of Historic Homes to Ms. Blas and Ms. Collins. Ms. Collins volunteered to go to Village Hall to look up the new owners. 5. 2001 HISTORIC WALKING TOUR: Mr. Bittner urged all members of the Board to solicit historic homeowners they knew, who had not had their homes open within the past 3 years, to volunteer for this year's tour. Mr. Bittner also instructed the members to consider dates in early May. Ms. Temkin will coordinate with Dade Heritage Trust. ADJOURNMENT Mr. Bittner adjourned the meeting at 8:25 p.
