HISTORIC PRESERVATION BOARD
MINUTES
A regular meeting of the Miami Shores Village Historic Preservation Board was
held at Village Hall on Monday, April 3, 2000. The meeting was called to order at 7:30
p.m. by Chairman Bittner with the following members present and absent:

AGENDA ITEMS
APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF MARCH 20, 2000
• Ms. Cadwallader moved to approve the minutes. The motion was seconded by
Mr. Bachay and passed unanimously.
PUBLIC HEARING ITEMS
1. APPLICATION FOR CERTIFICATE OF APPROPRIATENESS

APPLICANTS: IAN BALLINGER & KENNETH P. SMITH
Maintenance or Repair: Replace Garage Door; Remove Shutters
Mr. Ballanger appeared on spoke on behalf of the Applicants. Mr. Ballanger
described his application for the Board. He indicated that the exiting garage doors and
existing shutters were badly damaged due to weather, age, etc. Although the cost was
higher, Mr. Ballanger agreed to replace the garage door with a wood door as opposed to a
metal door.
After some discussion, Mr. Bachay moved to approve the application, with
respect to the garage doors, with the condition that the new garage door be made of wood
by Design Doors, Inc., #TP 24-F (16 x 7), which was seconded by Ms. Cadwallader and
passed unanimously.

With respect to that part of the application requesting removal of the existing
shutters, after some additional discussion, Mr. Bachay moved to approve the application,
which was seconded by Ms. Cadwalader, and passed unanimously.
ANNOUNCEMENTS/COMMENTS
Members of the Board were again reminded of the upcoming Historic Home and
Garden Tour scheduled for Saturday, April 15, 2000. Five homes would be on this year's
tour. All Board members were encouraged to participate.
