02-17-1999 Regular Meeting (2)MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE HISTORIC PRESERVATION BOARD MINUTES A regular meeting of the Miami Shores Village Historic Preservation Board was held at Village Hall on Wednesday, February 17, 1999. The meeting was called to order at 7:31 p.m. by Chairman Bittner with the following members present and absent: Present: Warren Bittner, Chairman Inez Hegedus -Garcia, Member Carolyne R. Cadwallader, Member John Bachay, Member Absent: Maria Temkin, Vice Chairperson William Tenney, Member Jaime Camacho, Member AGENDA ITEMS APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF NOVEMBER 2, 1998: • Ms. Cadwallader moved to approve the minutes. The motion was seconded by Ms. Hegedus -Garcia, and passed unanimously. PUBLIC HEARING ITEMS: 1. APPLICATION FOR CERTIFICATE OF APPROPRIATENESS 273 NE 98TH STREET APPLICANTS: Chris Mater & Oreste Salucci Rehabilitation: Replace macadam driveway with reclaimed brick in sand. Ms. Master was present to represent the applicants. She explained her request and indicated the areas in which the reclaimed brick was to go. Ms. Cadwallader moved to approve the application and Ms. Hegedus -Garcia seconded the motion. It passed unanimously without conditions. 2. APPLICATION FOR CERTIFICATE OF APPROPRIATENESS 339 NE 96TH STREET APPLICANT: Lisa Fowler Israel Maintenance or Repair: Request to paint facia, soffit, vertical and diagonal half-timber columns. • • • • MINUTES FEBRUARY 17,1999 • HISTORIC PRESERVATION BOARD PAGE 2 Ms. Israel appeared and spoke on this application. She indicated that she wanted to accent the half-timber detailing on the front facade of the house which is presently painted the same color as the rest of the walls. Ms. Israel proposed dark mahogany brown. In addition, she proposed to paint the small detailing on the half -timbers a contrasting color, perhaps red or burgundy. Ms. Hegedus -Garcia moved to approve the application. Ms. Cadwallader seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. 3. APPLICATION FOR CERTIFICATE OF APPROPRIATENESS 339 NE 96Th STREET APPLICANT: Lisa Fowler Israel Maintenance or Repair: Request to replace the house numbers. Mr. Bittner asked Ms. Israel if, since she was present, she wanted this Application, which had been pending since October 20, 1996, to be heard. Ms. Cadwallader moved to add the item to the Agenda, which was seconded by Ms. Hegedus -Garcia and passed unanimously. Ms. Israel indicated that the photos represented the house numbers she wished removed and that she did not bring with her the proposed numbers. Mr. Bittner suggested the item be deferred until the Board could view the house numbers proposed. Ms. Cadwallader moved to defer the item and Ms. Hegedus -Garcia seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. 4. APPLICATION FOR CERTIFICATE OF APPROPRIATENESS 273 NE 98TH STREET APPLICANTS: Chris Mater & Oreste Salucci Rehabilitation: Repaint residence. Ms. Master had a second application which was not on the Agenda. Ms. Hegedus - Garcia moved to add it to the Agenda, which was seconded by Ms. Cadwallader, and passed unanimously. Ms. Master explained that she proposed to paint the exterior walls of the house and windows and doors Benjamin Moore #181 (white), and the wood trim, eaves and under the roof Benjamin Moore #805. Ms. Hegedus -Garcia moved to approve the application, which was seconded by Ms. Cadwallader and passed unanimously. ANNOUNCEMENTS/COMMENTS: 5. REPORT - UNITY DAY EVENT BOARD PARTICIPATION Ms. Hegedus -Garcia reported that she, John Bachay, and Mr. Camacho conducted the trolley tours and raised $14.00 in donation. 6. REPORT - STATUS OF PUEBLO FELIZ BENCHES MINUTES • • FEBRUARY 17,1999 d HISTORIC PRESERVATION BOARD 4111 PAGE 3 This item was deferred due to Mr. Tenney's absence abroad to the Dominican Republic. 7. REPORT - HISTORICAL ROOM IN FORMER POLICE STATION This item was deferred until the next meeting due to Ms. Temkin's absence. 8. REPORT - STATUS OF DESIGNATION DRIVE Ms. Hegedus -Garcia reported on the number of homeowners who responded to the Board's invitation for designation. She will follow-up with the persons who contacted her. 9. DISCUSSION - DADE HERITAGE DAYS The Board selected the Saturday before Mother's Day as the day of the Miami Shores Historic Walking Tour for this year, i.e., Saturday, May 8, 1999 @ 10:00 a.m. Mr. Bachay advised the Board that Mr. Alexander (262 N.E. 96th Street) had volunteered to have his home on the Tour. Mr. Bittner volunteered to contact Elspeth Hochkiss and Carlos Mogolion (284 N.E., 96th Street) to see if they would also agree. Finally Ms. Hegedus -Garcia volunteered to contact Max Sturman (107 N.E. 96th Street) and Walter Michot (61 N.E. 96th Street) to see if they would volunteer as well. ADJOURNMENT Mr. Bittner adjourned the meeting at 8:30 p.m. r
