04-27-1998 Regular Meeting41, • MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE HISTORIC PRESERVATION BOARD MINUTES A regular meeting of the Miami Shores Village Historic Preservation Board was held at Village Hall on Monday, April 27, 1998. The meeting was called to order at 7:30 p.m. by Chairman Bittner with the following members present and absent: Present: Warren Bittner, Chairman Maria Temkin, Vice Chairperson Jaime Camacho, Member Inez Hegedus -Garcia, Member William Tenney, Member Carolyne Cadwallader, Member Absent: Kimberly Logan -Hynes, Member AGENDA ITEMS • APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF FEBRUARY 18, 1998 Ms. Hegedus -Garcia moved to approve the minutes as presented. The motion was seconded by Mr. Tenney, and passed unanimously. PUBLIC HEARING ITEMS ON REGULAR AGENDA 1. APPLICATION FOR CERTIFICATE OF APPROPRIATENESS 548 Grand Concourse APPLICANT: Maria Pernas & Miami Awning Rehabilitation: Request for approval of fabric awnings Both Ms. Pernas and a representative of Miami Awnings spoke on this application. Considerable discussion was had on the shape and color of the awnings. Ms. Pernas did not bring any samples of the fabric with her except a solid green, which she expressed a desire for. Ms. Hegedus -Garcia moved that the shape of the awnings be consistent with the Dade County publication, "Resourceful Rehab - A Guide for Historic Buildiings in Dade County." Mr. Camacho seconded the motion and it passed unanimously. Ms. Temkin moved to defer the color of the awnings until further samples were received by the Board for consideration. This motion was seconded by Ms. Hegedus -Garcia and passed unanimously. Mr. Tenney moved to defer the decision on whether a solid or stripe would be appropriate. APPLICATION FOR CERTIFICATE OF APPROPRIATENESS 960 NE 95`h Street APPLICANT: Jeanne Siebert New Construction: Request for approval of design and location for pool. Ms. Siebert spoke on her behalf She showed the Board both plans detailing the proposed pool design, including a site sketch, and photos of existing conditions. Ms. Temkin moved to approve the Application per the plans. Mr. Camacho seconded the motion and it passed unanimously. 3. REQUEST FOR HISTORIC LANDMARK DESIGNATION 90 NE 106th Street APPLICANT: Sheila McDonald/Patrick & Maureen Duffy Considerable discussion ensued concerning the merits of historic landmark designation for this property. Ms. Temkin volunteered to conduct further research into the architect, Lester Avery. Ms. Temkin moved to defer the item until the next meeting. The motion was seconded by Mr. Tenney and passed unanimously. ANNOUNCEMENTS/COMMENTS: ID 4. PLANNING DISCUSSION MIAMI SHORES HOME & GARDEN TOUR MAY 9, 1998 ® 10:00 A.M. Mr. Bittner reminded the members of the Board to arrive at the Shores Theater at 9:00 a.m. to set up. Ms. Temkin agreed to coordinate refreshments. Mr. Camacho and Ms. Hegedus -Garcia agreed to coordinate the brochure. Ms. Cadwallader agreed to assist in selling tickets at the door. 5. DISCUSSION - STATUS OF PUEBLO FELIX BENCHES Discussion deferred to next meeting due to upcoming tour. 6. DISCUSSION - STATUS OF PUBLICATION OF UNPUBLISHED MANUSCRIPT Discussion deferred to next meeting due to upcoming tour. 7.
