REGULAR MEETING
The regular meetinf the Miami Shores Villa Istorlc
Preservation Board was held at Miami Shores Village Hall on
Monday, October 17, 1994. The meeting was called to order at
7:30 P.M. by Chairman von Bittner, with the following members

Chairman von Bittner welcomed Dr. Jesus Mendez, of Barry
University and Ms. Jennifer Jove, Barry University Student
Intern.
1. Minutes May 24, 1994
Ms. Logan -Hynes moved to approve the Minutes of the May 24,
1994 meeting as submitted. Ms. Temkin seconded the motion
and it passed unanimously.
2. Update on Request for Nomination Information

Debra Davis
Ms. Davis Informed Chairman von Bittner that she had a
magazine article dated to 1930 featuring her home and she was
Interested In having her home designated. Chairman von
Blttner asked Ms. DAvis to provide him with the article and
the Board would make a decision after submission of the
appropriate paperwork.

Ms. Logan -Hynes stated that although the owner Is showing
interest In having the residence historically designated, a
convenient time to assist the owner has not been available.
3. Address - Dr. Jesus Mendez, Ph. D.
Barry University
Dr Mendez invited the members of the Board to attend the
neighborhood symposium to be held October 20, 1994 entitled
"Making Coconut Grove Home" at the Women's Club In Coconut
Grove.
Dr. Mendez went on to explain that attending the symposium
would enable the Board to better prepare themselves for the
symposium to be held in Miami Shores on March 14, 1995, which
the Board is co -sponsoring. Dr. Mendez outlined the
necessary steps to organize such an affair In March.

4. Status Report -ational Register Themati roup
Proposal. Re: The New Miami Shores Company Homes

Ms. Jennifer Jove, Student Intern at Barry University pre-
sented a report of The New Miami Shores Company. The report
stated that The New Miami Shores Company complied with every-
thing they stated they would do with regard to lot sizing,
extensive landscaping projects, residential facilities, parks
and playgrounds.
The Board felt the report was very informative and thanked
Ms. Jove for the work she did.
5. Request for Amendment to National Register

Walter Michot
Chairman von Bittner stated Mr. Michot, the owner of a Shore -
land Company Home designed by Keihnell & Elliot, contacted
him with regard to having his home placed on.the National
Register. Chairman von Bittner stated he will look into the
matter and if necessary do the paperwork necessary to place
the home on the National Register. Chairman von Blttner also
suggested that other Shoreland Company Homes should be in-
vestigated at the same time.
6. Next Meeting
The Board decided the next meeting will be held on the 1st or
2nd Monday of November depending the availability of the
Council Chambers.
A motion for adjournment was made at 9:15 P.M.
