05-24-1994 Regular Meeting• HP TORIC PRESERVATION BOARD 41, REGULAR MEETING The regular meeting of the Miami Shores Village Historic Preservation Board was held at Miami Shores Village Hall on Tuesday, May 24, 1994. The meeting was called to order at 7:45 P. M. by Chairman von Bittner., with the following members present: Warren von Bittner, Chairman Kimberly Logan -Hynes Maria T. Temkin, Vice Chairperson Elaine W. Franck Absent: Margarita Courtney 1. Minutes - March 8, 1994 Ms. Franck moved to approve the Minutes of the March 8, 1994 meeting as submitted. Ms. Logan -Hynes seconded the motion and It passed unanimously. 2. Request for Nomination for Landmark Designation Jorge Ardura & Nancy Ardura 113 NE 101 Street Mr. Ardura explained that his home is one of the first homes built In Miami Shores and should be designated an historic landmark. Chairman von Bittner stated that the structure was designed by Klehnel & Elliott, one of the architectural firms responsible for establishing the Mediterranean Revival character of the original Miami Shores development under the Shore1and Company. Ms. Temkin moved to approve the nomination for landmark designation for the property located at 113 NE 101 Street, presently owned by Jorge and Nancy Ardura. Ms. Franck seconded the motion and the motion passed by a unanimous vote. Chairman von Bittner submitted the original Historical Landmark Covenant to be recorded upon approval of the Village Council. 3. Application for Certificate of Appropriateness Pool addition to side yard Mr. Jorge Ardura & Nancy Ardura 113 NE 101 Street Mr. Ardura presented a blueprint to the Board indicating the area where the pool Is to be constructed. Mr. Ardura stated that a good deal of the area will be decorated with Imitation keystone In order to keep the look of the 1920's. Ms. Temkin moved to accept the Certificate of Appropriateness for the pool addition In the side yard. 4111 Historical Preserva�lon meetin - 2 - M 24 9 ay 1994 Ms. Logan -Hynes seconded the motion and it passed unanimously. 4. Application for Certificate of Appropriateness Protective film on wood casement windows Mr. Jorge Ardura & Nancy Ardura 113 NE 101 Street Mr. Ardura submitted samples to the Board of various tints of a protective film to be applied to the windows of his home. Chairman v. ittner commented that the darker tinted film would det rom the appearance of the home, especially on the window facing the street. Ms. Franck stated that the darker tint would det appearance of the historic home. rom the Ms. Logan -Hynes stated the darker tint will detract from the beauty of the home. After further discussion, Ms. Logan -Hynes moved to approve the clear protective film application without any tint, for the wood casement windows. Ms. Franck seconded the motion and It passed unanimously. 5. Status report - Proposed 1995 Budget & Related Goals Ms. Logan -Hynes reported she submitted the proposed budget to Ms. Varney, Finance Director of Miami Shores Village, but, has not received any comment from her. Ms. Logan -Hynes moved to defer items 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 until a future meeting. Ms. Franck seconded the motion and It passed unanimously. 11. Next Meeting Chairman von Bittner stated he will call the Board for a meeting in July, 1994. A motion for adjournment was made at 8:30 P.M. Warren von Bittner, Chairman Veronica A. Galli, Secretary •
