APRIL 15, 1991
The regular meeting of the Miami Shores Village Historic Preservation
Board was held at the Miami Shores Village Bali on Monday, April 15, 1991.
The meeting was called to order at 7:40 P.M. by Chairman, Mr. Gaggstatter,
with the following -members- present:
E. D. Gaggstatter, Chairman.
Margarita Courtney
Marty Kern
Julie Obermeyer
Maria T. Temkin
1. MINUTES -MARCH 18, 1991
The minutes of the meeting of March 18, 1991 were approved, by a motion
made by Julie Obermeyer, seeonded by' Margarita Courtney, and passed by
unanimous vote.
2. REPORT -- GRANT APPLICATION OF STATE OF FLORIDA
A copy of the Grant application as written by Julie Obermeyer, project
supervisor was presented to Mr. Gaggstatter•by'Maria Temkin, who reported
the Grant application has been mailed to Tallhassee, letters sent, and
all seems to be in order, (.The Grant application is for $3,000.00
matching funds for staff support, materials, and office space to support
the survey of Art Deco structures in Miami Shores Village).
• 3. DISCUSSION - POSSIBLE DESIGNATION OF NATIONAL REGISTER PROPERTIES NOT
ALREADY DESIGNATED
Mrs Temkin reported there are approximately thirteen homes on the
National Register which have not been locally designated. A liet of
these properties was made for each Member by the Secretary-.
Mr. Gaggstatter suggested a letter be sent to the home owner of these
properties asking them to reconsider.
4. ANNOUNCEMENTS AND/OR COMMENTS
Mr. Gaggstatter reported he had received a call from Mr. Kenneth Lange
of 70 N. E. 96th St. requesting information on having his home designated
as a Historic Landmark. Hr. Lange came into Village Hall and obtained
a packet on designationfrom the Secretary. The picture on the drive by
survey report was not clear, so Mr. Gaggstatter requested Members drive
by for a look at the house. He further reported, it is a nice, 2 story
house designed by Robert Law Weed.
Mr. Gaggstatter stated the price forthe plaques is the same and a plaque
will be ordered for Julie Obermeyer's home at 52 N. E. 98th St.
