08-20-1990 Regular Meeting• • 0 2 41/9pp <c iami cfhoress llage F L O R 1 D A HISTORIC PRESERVATION BOARD August 20, 1990 The meeting of Miami Shores Village Historic Preservation Board was held at the Miami Shores Village Hall on Monday, August 20, 1990. The meeting was called to order at 7:40 P.M. by the Chairman, Mr. Gaggstatter, with the following members present: H. D. Gaggstatter, Jr., Chairman Marty Kern Maria T. Temkin 1. The minutes of the meeting of July 16, 1990 were approved by a motion made by Maria Temkin, seconded by Marty Kern, and passed unanimously. Minutes of April 16, 1990 — Mr: Gaggstatter passed the gavel to Maria Temkin so that he could move to approve these minutes. He called for a correction of a typographical error Pg 1, 2., paragraph 2. Following this correction the minutes were approved by a motion by Mr. Gaggstatter, seconded by Marty Kern, and carried unanimously. 2. WORKSHOP Mr. Gaggstatter stated the primary purpose is to fill everyone in on the papers or documents in his possession, or available in the Map Room. In the Map Room are two sets of red loose leaf bound note books listing survey of properties fifty years old in Miami Shores. He showed -Members a copy of this note book, and explained the arrangement and the negatives code for all the pictures he had taken of these properties. The negatives he keeps in a brawn envelope, and a map from the National register survey. There are also several pink covered copies of the register in the Map room. (Maria Temkin took one for the Library after the meeting). There are five copies of the Department of Interior Guidelines for restoration also there. The secretary, Josephine Church explained what she keeps in her one drawer file. A copy of all Historic Landmarkproperties, and pertinent information, and folders holding copies of other related papers. Mr. Gaggstatter showed a copy of the designation certificate, and indicated he will try to find someone to do the proper lettering for Mrs. Stofik. He also will order two house plaques. One for 341 N. E. 92nd St and one for 61 N. E.•91st St, which does not have one. Mr. Gaggstatter also has the Grant Application forms. Mr. Gaggstatter read a memo sent to Gail Macdonald from Mayor Courtney. This memo referred to the presentation of a slide show by Ivan Rodriguez, concerning the preservation and restoration of homes, particularly in Miami Shores. He also read a letter to Ivan Rodriguez from Gail Macdonald. Dates suggested for September are the llth, 20th, 24th, and the 25th or possibly September 17th. Information on getting word to the Community was outlined. Members took no action. No date was set, no place or time designated. Mr. Gaggstatter will call Ivan Rodriguez and Gail Macdonald for further particulars. There was much discussion on the issue. • • HISTORIC PRESERVATION BOARD -2- Aug 20, 1990 /le /12. Mr. Gaggstatter read a letter he wrote to Mr. Juan A. Gonzalez, P.E. thanking him for his presentation at the last meeting of Historic Preservation Board1concerning the proposed addition to Miami Shores Elementary School. There was some discussion on the blending of the existing building with the new design. Julie Obermeyer, 52 N. E. 98th St. attended the meeting. She indicated she would like to volunteer her services in Miami Shores. She bought her home in Miami Shores, wants to restore it, but needs some suggestions. Mrs. Obermeyer does work and has other time commitments or obligations. It was explained to her that only four meetings of Historic Preservation Board are required per year, and there are no big projects in the works at this time. Maria Temkin and Marty Kern will re -access the homes listed on the Site Survey list in an effort to obtain new designations. 3. ANNOUNCEMENTS There were no announcements.
