HISTORIC PRESERVATION BOARD
January 15, 1990
A regular meeting of Miami Shores Village Historic Preservation Board
was held at Miami Shores Village Hall on Monday, January 15, 1990. The
meeting was called to order at 7:35 P.M. by Hank Gaggstatter, Chairman. The
following members were present:
Hank D. Gaggstatter, Jr., Chairman
Pedro Acosta
Margarita Courtney
Marty Kern
Absent: Margo Newton
1. MINUTES - November 20, 1990
Minutes of the meeting of November. 20, 1990 were amended as per notation
sent in by Margo Newton. Marty Kern moved to approve the minutes as
amended, seconded by Pedro Acosta, and passed unanimously.
2. DISCUSSION - COMMENTS IN MIAMI HELALD NEIGHBORS
Mr. Gaggstatter asked Members if they had read the article in the paper,
where -in an individual with the Dade County Board stated that Miami Shores
Village and other municipalities were recalcitrant in requiring "owner
consent" for designation. Mr. Gaggstatter explained that, at least twice,
previous Boards had attempted to have the Village ordinance revised to
comply with the County ordinance and that the idea was rejected on both
occasions. After discussion, i,t was decided any further effort to change
the Village ordinance would prolably be useless.
3. OLD BUSINESS & NEW BUSINESS
A. Mr. Gaggstatter reported on the possibility of designation of the
Renuart House, 501 N. E. 94th Street.
B. Marty Kern offered to.write an article on 273 N. E. 98th Street, the
Darst residence, for the Village News. Mr. Gaggstatter agreed to
locate the negative or a print of the house.
4. REVIEW CONTENTS OF TRUNK
The Members present retired to the .back and examined some Of the contents
of the trunk. Only Hank Gaggstatter had seen these documents, photographs,
etc.. The other Members were excited by the various items, some dating back
to 1924-1926. Upon a motion by Mr. Acosta, seconded by Mrs. Courtney, and
passed unanimously, it was decided that a future meeting should be dedicat-
ed to cataloging the contents of the trunk.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 8:30 P.M.
